Position Overview Reconciliation Canada is seeking a team of highly motivated individuals to provide support to the Outreach team by assisting with researching community organizations and outreaching to them to participate in a community art project. The successful candidates will engage members of the public in the renewal of relationships among Indigenous peoples and all Canadians, furthering the vision of Reconciliation Canada. Born from the vision of Chief Dr. Robert Joseph, Gwawaenuk Elder, Reconciliation Canada is a charitable nonpartisan, national initiative that promotes reconciliation by engaging Canadians from every part of society in open and honest dialogue and transformative experiences that revitalize relationships among Indigenous peoples and all Canadians.   Deliverables & Duties   Research and reach out to contacts in Vancouver and Greater Vancouver Area (community centres, kids camps, church organizations, cultural institutions, businesses, community groups, etc.) to be invited to participate in the Reconciliation Art Project in support of the Walk for Reconciliation which will be taking place in Vancouver, on September 24th, 2017 Assist Reconciliation Art Project coordinator in support of all participating art project groups (communications, follow up, rock counts, rock pick up) Host the Reconciliation Art Project at booths at various events throughout the summer Assist Outreach Manager or the Art Project Coordinator with other research and tasks as they arise Help keep art project kit stocked with rocks for events (possibly get more at the event if we run out of rocks/supplies) Help lead kids in rock painting – why they are doing it, what it will be used for. Help educate participants in the art project about the walk to encourage them to participate. Take photos of kids painting rocks at events, camps, etc. for social media use Provide assistance with booth management during the day of the Walk (September 24th, 2017)   Skills & Experience   Strong people skills Connections to community groups Basic experience in administration, including data entry and file management Strong written and verbal communication skills, comfortable making phone calls Computer skills – must have use of own laptop Reliable and dependable Access to email, the internet and transportation around Greater Vancouver Area Passion, integrity, and energy!   Time Commitment: 4-8 hours per week Term: July 2017 – September 2017, with possibility of extension Location: remotely and community events across Greater Vancouver Area Reports to: Reconciliation Art Project Coordinator / Outreach Manager   Benefits & Recognition Personally contribute to the reconciliation process through participation in Reconciliation Canada initiatives Meet and work with like-minded people on a common goal of importance to our nation Build on research, communication and outreach skills Inspire positive change and make a difference to the future of Canada To apply, please send your cover letter and resume at volunteer@reconciliationcanada.ca by Monday, July 31st, 2017
