EVENT COORDINATOR

CANADA DAY PARADE COORDINATOR – CARNAVAL DEL SOL

and Latin enthusiasts living in Vancouver to strengthen and celebrate the richness of our businesses and
cultures. Our four pillars are:
Promoting Culture: We promote cultural diffusion in Latin America in the Canadian context promoting and
enriching bilateral cultural support.
Connecting Business: We provide possibilities for Latino entrepreneurship with effective management,
thus generating assertive business links in Canada.
Supporting Community: We watch over a community in Latin America with cohesion and mutual support,
giving rise to growth with firm roots.
Empowering People: We generate growth possibilities and empowerment of enthusiastic Latin Americans
seeking opportunities in Canada.
Description
The Canada Day Parade Coordinator is responsible for the efficient planning and execution of the parade
during Canada Day. This is a multi-dimensional position that requires an individual who is a self-starter,
with strong written and verbal communications skills and the ability to relate to the many different entities
involved in the planning and execution of the event.
Job Summary
• Create the concept of the Parade based in Latin America Culture
• Communicate with the different Latin communities to engage their participation.
• Responsible for coordinating volunteers to their assigned positions
• Take on-spot decisions for the event to run more efficiently and smoothly.
• Communicate with event service providers.
• Provide all the information and details about the event.
• Plan all the activities and schedule for Canada Day Parade
• Looking for a bus to rent
• Search for possible sponsors and partners
• Provide all the decoration according to the budget.
• Work closely to Graphic Design to create posters and flyers.
• Provide on-going assistance and support for the volunteer team and PM.
• Finding solutions to any problem that arise during the event.
• Producing post event analysis, evaluation, and recommendation reports

Qualifications:

• Certificate or bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, event planning, or a related field
• Self-starter
• Proven experience in event planning and coordination
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and event planning software
• Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
• Demonstrated ability to establish effective and cooperative working relationships built on trust.
• Ability to manage a wide range of relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
Requirements and Skills:
• 3 days a week, between 5 or 6 hours, and at least for 3 months
• High Intermediate English level, written and verbal.
• Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) plus other programs
• Being able to work independently on projects while meeting deadlines.
• Recruitment, human resources, or a related field is desired.
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to work in teams and independently.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong written and oral communications skills
• Spanish or Portuguese is an asset.
