Purpose
The Committee Chair will provide motivation and organizational leadership to the committee and work with Kids Help Phone regional staff to ensure event success
Co-Chair
The Co-Chair supports the Chair in leadership of the committee and assumes all duties and responsibilities in the absence of the Chair. The Co-Chair role provides a succession model for the committee leadership
Duties and Responsibilities
Pre-Event
Committee management:
Recruit committee members and delegate tasks appropriately
Lead committee work through meetings, minute-taking and include Kids Help Phone Staff in decisions
Assist regional staff with recruiting organization sponsors, teams and individual participants
Monitor progress through regular follow-up with committee members and identify and solve problems
Event logistics: (with support from committee members and Kids Help Phone regional staff)
Represent Kids Help Phone and the event in the community
Establish a plan for registration record keeping and safety (online and offline)
Review and understand timelines, budget, sponsor obligations, and financial goals
Recruit sponsors, teams and individual participants and secure event related resources as needed
Event Day
Provide overall direction to team to ensure organization and event day support
Serve as a Kids Help Phone representative and act as or designate a spokesperson for the event
Post-Event
Complete formal debrief after the event with input from committee members
Hold an informal thank you event for committee members
Qualifications
Motivated to support Kids Help Phone’s mission and vision
Strong ability to collaborate and lead a team and communicate at a regional and national level
Strong organization skills to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects
Excellent team and interpersonal skills
Commitment
Approximately 10 hours per month, with hours increasing leading up to the Walk (April-May)
Monthly meeting attendance with responsibility for managing members outside meeting time
Be easily accessible one week before the event and at the event to coordinate event activities
Must be able to attend the Walk on the first Sunday in May (approximately 9 hours)
