Reconciliation Canada is calling on volunteers who are willing to donate their time and energy for the Vancouver 2017 Walk for Reconciliation to help build a stronger relationship among Indigenous peoples and all Canadians and facilitate a better and stronger Canada for all. Born from the vision of Chief Dr. Robert Joseph, Gwawaenuk Elder, Reconciliation Canada is leading the way in engaging Canadians in dialogue and transformative experiences that revitalize the relationships among Indigenous peoples and all Canadians. Our model for reconciliation engages people in open and honest conversation to understand our diverse histories and experiences. The Walk for Reconciliation is a positive movement to build better relationships among Indigenous peoples and all Canadians. This bold vision calls on everyone of all ages, all backgrounds, all cultures and all faiths to come together as communities and as individuals. The act of walking and sharing our stories joins us in a commitment to create a new way forward for reconciliation. What: Communications volunteers will be helping to document the Walk and raise awareness for Reconciliation Canada and our cause. Positions include: Social Media – submit live content to be used on social media Story Gatherer – interview participants & gather testimonials Professional Photographer Professional Videographer When: Sunday, September 24th, 2017 Where: The Walk will begin at Queen Elizabeth Theatre and end at Strathcona Park. How Long: The length of the shift will depend on the event that you’re volunteering with and the specific role that you take on during the day. The average shift length is 4 hours and we’ll make sure you’re able to take a break. Volunteers will also receive refreshments during their shift.
