Opportunity Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director, Chapter Development is responsible for providing support, resources and advice to YWiB chapters to assist them in their yearly goals. This includes regular in person and electronic contact with chapters to check in on their progress and provide assistance as needed. The Director, Chapter
Development may assist in being the point person for chapters to get general questions and concerns addressed, to be forwarded to the Chair of Chapter Development where necessary.

The Director, Chapter Development assists in ensuring that there is strong communication between the various chapters as well as between the Board of Directors and the chapter teams. While providing continuous assistance to chapters, the Director is also responsible for ensuring all documentation is up
to-date, organized and stored correctly. The Director will be working with teams to assist in the strategic planning and goal setting process.

ORGANIZATIONAL STATUS
The Director, Chapter Development reports to the Board of Directors, specifically to the Chair of Chapter Development. Chapter Presidents liaise directly with the Director, Chapter Development and is the direct link between the chapter executive team and the Board of Directors.

MUST KNOW ABOUT YWIB
The Director, Chapter Development is a key resource for existing YWiB chapters and as such must have a strong knowledge base of all aspects of the organization. The Director should be able to address questions and concerns that may arise or direct them to the appropriate addressee within an effective
and efficient manner. In addition to addressing general questions, the Director will assist the Chair of Chapter Development in acting as an advisor to chapters and as such must have experience leading a team with similar functions to that of YWiB chapter teams.

WORK PERFORMED
– Regular meetings with chapter Presidents
– Regular meetings with Chair of Chapter Development and/or Board of Directors
– Attending chapter team meetings and events as time permits
– Assisting chapters with yearly planning and goal setting
– Organizing and facilitating All Presidents Meetings with Chapter Presidents
– Identifying areas for cross chapter collaboration and facilitating connections to follow through
on collaborations
– Overseeing the distribution of the YWiB Quarterly Newsletter to all YWiB executives
– Communicating relevant information from Board of Directors to chapters and vice-versa
– Research, create and implement a chapter handbook detailing key resources and procedures for
new chapters
– Create, organize and compile on-going organizational documentation (policies, templates, etc.)

SIGNIFICANCE OF POSITION
This position is instrumental in ensuring that there is clear communication between chapters and the Board of Directors. The Director, Chapter Development ensures that YWiB provides the necessary resources and support to ensure each chapter is successful on an annual basis. Much of the details of the work of the Director is based on the needs of individual chapters, but broadly, the Director assists in the Chair of Chapter Development’s work as an advisor and mentor to the chapter Presidents
throughout the course of their terms.

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE
There is no specific education or work experience necessary but a background in involvement with chapter executive teams is an asset.

SKILLS
The ideal fit for this position is an individual who is a self-starter with strong interpersonal skills as this position requires the individual to be proactive in reaching out to chapters. The candidate must possess the ability to work independently and know when their assistance is needed. The Director should be able to work with chapters to develop solutions and ideas rather than imposing their own methods.

They must be a problem solver, good listener and able to critically assess situations in a fair manner. The Director may be required to handle difficult situations or take part in difficult conversations. Most importantly, the ideal candidate has an understanding of the unique challenges that face chapters and the ability to empathize with chapter Presidents and executives.

This volunteer position requires a minimum one-year commitment. Time commitment will vary depending on current projects from to 8 to 12 hours per week including monthly meetings.
