The DVBIA along with the More Awesome Now team (HCMA and and VIVA Vancouver) launched Ackery’s Alley in August of 2018. The laneway (located behind the Orpheum Theatre, running between Granville & Seymour Streets) brings the indoor elements of a theatre outdoors- with red velvet painted ground and gold paneling. The main attraction is FIELD- a light and sound art project that is controlled by the public.
With Ackery’s Alley now complete, we are seeking volunteers to help measure the space’s success. We will need at least one volunteer to collect data to determine who is using the space now, how long they spend time in the lane, and how they feel in Ackery’s Alley. This opportunity requires both observational techniques and conducting an intercept survey.
We are looking for someone to fill these shifts in August:
Mornings (7am-9am) (8:30-10:30am)
Lunch (11am-1pm) (11:45am-1:45pm)
Afternoon/Evening (5-7pm) (4-6pm)
Time to input data into computer: 1 hour per shift
Total Time Commitment: 7 shifts x 3 hours = 21 hours total
Length of Commitment: 1 month. Volunteers select the dates within the timeframes listed.
Typical Shift: Requires standing for 2 hours solid, rain or shine, collecting notes and data. Intercept surveys conducted on alleyway users. Office time on computer transferring data to an online format.
