Guide to High School is an after-school program that helps Grade 7 students in their transition to high school. We go through different topics each week for total of 8 weeks (April-May) including mindsets, stress management, friendships, personal identity, and social media. The program runs at local elementary or high school in Vancouver and Surrey 3-6pm (including set up and clean-up).
Each program is delivered by an intergenerational team of volunteers. The team will facilitate discussions and activities while sharing their experience on each topic. Volunteers also receive Inclusive Leadership and Facilitation Certificate at the end if they attend all training and 75% of the sessions.
No prior experience needed.
Volunteers are required to provide Criminal Record Check and complete all training before the start of the program. If you are volunteering first time with us since 2020, please schedule 30-minute interview with us once you submit your application – the interview is to check your availability and provide detailed introduction to the program.
Online training (will be recorded): March 29th via Zoom
In-person training: April 1st Saturday
