POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Zajac Ranch for Children is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing outdoor and camp experiences to children and young adults living with special needs and chronic illnesses. Children who attend camp will improve their self-esteem and confidence in a stimulating, supportive, empowering and fun environment, while ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.

We are seeking Medical Summer Camp Volunteers (Nurses or Doctors) to volunteer this summer in 2018.

Volunteering with Zajac Ranch for Children will allow you to develop skills working with groups with diverse challenges. Not only will you develop and build upon your professional skills, but you will have the opportunity to explore who you are, and let your true personality shine. You will meet people from all over the world, whom share similar interests and the desire to make a difference in a child’s life.

Volunteers are a key component in the success of summers at Zajac Ranch. Without your participation it would not be possible to offer the programs that we do. Volunteers are responsible for supervision and care of our campers throughout every aspect of camp life.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Provide copy of your current registration and any additional applicable certifications/registrations
Be camper-focused with a professional attitude.
Have leadership and communication skills.
Be willing and able to work in a physically and mentally demanding environment on a daily basis.
Have a friendly, caring personality.
Be effectively able manage self-care.
Be able to apply behaviour management techniques (as covered in staff training) to ensure a caring, positive, and fun experience for all campers.

Interview: All volunteers will partake in a short get-to-know you interview, to ensure you are a good fit for the Ranch.

Training: All successful applicants (including returning staff/volunteers) are required to attend volunteer training, held the evening before your scheduled session.

Compensation: This is a volunteer position; however all room and board is provided when you volunteer with Zajac Ranch for Children.

Time Commitment: Each camp is a week long mostly running Monday to Friday, minimum 1 week commitment from start of a camp date to end. (see camp dates listed below):

June 11-22, 2018 – Staff Training (2 weeks)
June 25-29, 2018 – Young Adult Camp #1
July 2-6, 2018 – Mixed Medical #1 Camp
July 8-14, 2018 – CNIB
July 16-20, 2018 – DS-EP-MD
July 23-27, 2018 – Autism #1
July 30-August 3, 2018 – Mixed Medical #2
August 6-10, 2018 – Stars / Alderwood/ Tsawassen
August 13-17, 2018 – Autism #2
August 20-24, 2018 – Young Adult Camp #2
