Opportunity Description:

We are currently accepting applications for volunteer tutors at our Pathways to Education Surrey location for 2021! Pathways to Education provides a comprehensive set of academic, social, financial, and individual supports to youth. The result of this unique program has been groundbreaking, increasing high school graduation rates by 75%! Pathways supports youth living in the Whalley and Guildford neighborhoods in Surrey in their educational success.

We have several volunteer academic tutoring positions, with possible mentorship opportunities. We are looking for friendly, welcoming, and non-judgmental volunteers who thrive in a positive, progressive atmosphere, and who respect and value the diversity of communities and individuals.Tutors will work with youth (ages 12-18) to help them complete their homework and provide academic support in high school subjects in both 1-1 and small group settings. We are looking for committed people to come and share your knowledge, encouragement, and expertise.

Volunteers must be able to commit to 1 evening per week for 3 hours throughout the high school calendar (September 2021 through June 2022). Volunteers are also required to be over the age of 19 and have a Criminal Record Check (in the vulnerable sector) completed with their application, please contact us for more information.

Strength in one of the core academic subjects: Math, Science, Social Studies, English, French (additional languages)

Criminal Record Check (CRC) in the vulnerable sector (working with vulnerable youth and adults)
Two reference checks
Must be 19 or older
