Zajac Ranch for Children is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing outdoor and camp experiences to young adults and youth living with special needs and chronic illnesses. Children who attend camp will improve their self-esteem and confidence in a stimulating, supportive, empowering and fun environment, while ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.

 

Volunteering with the Zajac Ranch for Children will allow you to develop skills working with groups with diverse challenges. These skills and experiences have applications in many future careers and are positively recognized by employers and post-secondary institutions.  Our volunteers join us for entire camp sessions. For the most part, our summer camp sessions begin on Monday and end on Friday. Our volunteers are asked to commit to the entire camp session, as it will help to establish stronger connections with our campers and help our campers to become familiar with their counselling team.

Volunteers are assigned to a group of campers within a team of other staff and volunteers. They act as an assistant to the staff, providing an extra set of ears and eyes in order to ensure that campers are happy, safe, and being included. Volunteers accompany their group of campers to meals, activity periods, special programs, etc.

Volunteers will not be responsible for behaviour management or personal care of our campers. Volunteers they will take the lead of the staff members with whom they have been assigned.

 All volunteers must produce a clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
Volunteers must be 18 years of age by beginning of the summer camp session.
Volunteers are required to attend a pre-camp training session the evening before camp begins.
Volunteers may commit to just one session or multiple sessions, depending on their availability.

Volunteers are provided with accommodations and food while onsite
