Opportunity Description:

Vision Mate volunteers provide sighted assistance to a person who is blind or partially sighted. Activities may include reading, organizing things around the home, walking, assisting with errands, or heading on an outing or social visit. Vision Mate volunteers are not expected to drive, clean, cook or provide personal care for the participant.

Vision Mates are matched with someone living in their community who has sight loss, for one or two hours a week in the person’s home or another suitable place, at a mutually convenient time.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Vision mates must be reliable, patient, responsible and friendly. You either have very strong English skills or are willing to volunteer in your native language. Vision mates must be 18 or older. Criminal Record Check and reference checks are required for this position.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Make a difference in the life of an individual in your community who is blind or partially sighted.

A reference letter can be provided upon actively volunteering for a minimum of 3 months. Criminal record check and reference checks are required. Orientation and training will be provided.
