Opportunity Description:

Say Yes! is a faith-based, not-for-profit after school tutoring program based in east Vancouver. We reach inner city elementary-aged students. The program is holistic providing a meal, study time, recreation, and story or craft Monday-Thursday (4 days a week). The Say Yes! mandate is to be a sort of “youth development center” where we encourage and empower the kids in our program to succeed in school, in relationships, and in making healthy choices. As a volunteer you would be a mentor to the children as well as help a child or small group of children with homework or other learning activities appropriate to their level (provided). This is an opportunity to work and learn in a cross-cultural context as most of our children are urban First Nations; it is an opportunity to bless young people by helping to make Say Yes! a fun and safe place to be; and it is an opportunity to grow in skill as you challenge children to progress in learning. This is a great volunteer opportunity for older high school students (grades 11 and 12) and university students the the children relate easily to young people. We also encourage people of any age to come and lend your support.
