Parent Support Service of BC is a non-profit organization, with a mission to protect the safety and well-being of children and promote the health of all families by partnering with those in a parenting role and their communities to build support, advocacy, education, research, and resources.
We are holding a facilitator training seminar on February 23-25, 2018. Applicants must attend the full 20h Training. See below for dates and times.
Friday 23rd: 6pm to 9:30pm
Saturday 24th: 9am to 5:15pm
Sunday 25th: 9am to 5:15pm
Every fiscal year, we facilitate 5 training seminars (in different regions in BC) for volunteers who are willing to commit for 2-3 hours a week for a minimum of 1 year. We require that all volunteers partake in our 20h training, in order to qualify as volunteer facilitators with PSS. This is to ensure that our volunteers are knowledgeable about our services; learn how to utilize the self-help, peer support model; and to ensure that our services and practice is consistent and reliable.
Qualifications:
Good Listening and Interpersonal Skills
An Interest in Improving Caregiver and Child Relationships
Basic Understanding of Child Development and Parenting Issues
Willing to do Community Outreach
Speak English, Filipino, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Arabic, and/or other languages
