Opportunity Description:

Brief organization profile The Great Climate Race is a brand new running series that raise awareness about climate solutions and crowdfunds for local solar projects. The inaugural race will take place on the Stanley Park seawall on October 30th, and will involve both a 10K and 2.5K course. It’s a fun, family-friendly walk and run that’s zero waste and solar-powered, with entertainment, costumes, healthy snacks, and more!   Position description We are looking for individuals who are able to assist us in our second race at Stanley Park on October 30th. Depending on the specific role, volunteers will either be involved with promotions, setup and teardown, greeting and giving direction to participants, events administration assistance, or even a combination of all. Able to motivate and encourage runners. Outgoing, friendly and helpful personality. Customer-service oriented. Detail-oriented and takes pride in a job well done. Able to work independently and in a team. Fluency in English preferred but not necessary. Must be comfortable working with the public. Must be able to work in all types of outdoor weather conditions.   Deliverables / Duties This is dependent on what role the volunteer is interested in. Some volunteers will promote the event, while others are involved with set up. Others may have a combination of roles. Please contact The Great Climate Race to discuss your options.   Hours per week expected Five to ten hours on race day, October 30th. Hours of service most likely be between 7:00 a.m and 1:00 p.m. As well as training for the volunteer position which will be 2 hours long and will take place the week before the race.   Skills or opportunities that can be obtained through this position Learn communication skills, like giving or receiving direction and feedback. Network with a diverse group of individuals who care about climate solutions and community service.
