Who we are

The C.O.D.E. Initiative is an organization dedicated to increasing diversity in both the education and tech industries. Since 2017, we have provided coding and STEM workshops to neurodiverse children (youth who identify with being on the Autism Spectrum or having ADD/ADHD, GAD, or any other exceptionality) and underrepresented youth across Canada. Our mission is to create inclusive and supportive environments for children to learn, explore and empower themselves in.

 

Position Summary

The role of VP, Marketing & Communications offers an exciting opportunity to contribute directly into the mission and values of our organization and work on meaningful projects that serve our communities.You will own development of the overall marketing strategy for The C.O.D.E. Initiative and manage a team to coordinate all brand development, advertising, digital engagement, analytics, communications and growth-related initiatives. By understanding the market data, you will be expected to bring innovative ideas to the table and put them into action at The C.O.D.E. Initiative to spread the work our organization is doing towards diversity and inclusion in the tech and education sectors. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

Set and execute the integrated marketing & communications strategy for The C.O.D.E. Initiative’s short- and long-term marketing plans, reflecting a deep understanding of both traditional and innovative marketing and engagement tactics
 Develop content and manage all social media, email and marketing campaigns; track effectiveness of campaigns and report findings
Proactively search for partnership opportunities and build relationships with strategic partners to increase impact and growth for our organization
Actively research and track marketing trends in our industry and introduce new and innovative marketing approaches to the team
Ensure the marketing budget spend is delivering a return on investment
Maintain brand consistency across all campaigns, messaging and visuals to ensure content resonates with our audiences
Oversee the hiring, interviewing and training of new team members as the team continues to scale to build a highly engaged, diverse, creative and capable team
Provide effective management and career development for your team by leading professional development, training and mentoring throughout the year
Measure and sustain KPIs for the Marketing team to ensure activities contribute effectively towards larger functional goals of the organization 
Participate in important events and provide assistance with ongoing class activities once in-person sessions resume 
Work closely with other department leads and the President and report monthly marketing efforts and findings to the senior management team

Qualifications & Requirements

A bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline; a masters degree would be of an asset but not required, or equivalent combination of education and experience; a life-long learner preferred

Strong experience managing marketing and social media efforts with a positive ROI 
You have analytical rigor. You must know how to quantitatively analyze and optimize marketing programs and growth initiatives.
Expertise with graphic design and curating content on all digital and social platforms

High expectations for creative work and willingness to review all finalized work in detail before publishing
Experience developing and managing a highly effective and dynamic team and setting and monitoring KPIs that both reflect clear division of responsibilities and larger team goals
Talented at communicating a vision and strategy 
Strong collaboration skills. Has an open and consistent approach to working with others and possesses strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and develop/maintain partnerships
Proven track record of leadership skills; able to inspire and motivate teams around a continuously evolving agenda
Exceptional writing, communication and public speaking and presentation skills
