Latincouver (La Music Roots Workshop Coordinator)

• Appropriate for youth (i.e., less than 18)
• Appropriate for volunteers aged between 18 and 55
• Appropriate for volunteers aged 55 and over
• Appropriate for court-ordered volunteers

The team lead is responsible for the efficient planning and execution of the Afro American Latin Music Roots  Workshop. This is a multi-dimensional position that requires an individual who is a self-starter, with strong written and verbal communications skills and the ability to relate to the many different entities involved in the planning and execution of the event.

Skills & Responsibilities

✓ A self-starter that enjoys working with people

✓ Ability to coordinate direct and motivate a team

✓ good interpersonal and supervisory skills

✓ Ability to work with diverse group of individuals

✓ Ability to delegate tasks and work under pressure

✓ Ability to work with flexibility energy and commitment

✓ Strong communication skills in English

✓ Knowledge of Spanish or Portuguese is an asset

Job Summary

✓ Help with finding artists for workshop

✓ Coordinating volunteers to their assigned positions, scheduling of  the volunteers and managing them

✓ Take on-spot decisions for the event to run more efficiently and smoothly

✓ Communicate with event service providers, including Food and Drinks

✓ Provide ongoing assistance and support for the Project Manager to ensure that all logistical arrangements are successfully completed and executed

✓ Finding solutions to any problem that arise during the event

✓ Check that all requirements of government are met

✓ Work on security for the venue

✓ Look for sponsors and partners and ensure that commitments for sponsors are fulfilled

✓ Find a venue to host this event.

✓ Create, print and help to sell the tickets for the event

✓ Help with decorations  

✓ Check all licenses if needed

✓ Compiling a post event analysis, evaluation and recommendation reports

✓ Work closely with Marketing team to ensure that event is promoted in the best way.
