The British Columbia Recreation and Parks Association (BCRPA), a not for profit organization, plays a central role in leading the enrichment and improvement of the quality of life of British Columbians and their communities. We do this by championing the power of recreation and parks.
The ASAP lab conducts clinical and community-based research to estimate the frequency of anxiety and stress-related disorders in ASD with greater precision and identify risk factors. Additionally, we aim to improve clinical practices by providing guidelines and measures for determining when someone with ASD is experiencing anxiety or trauma and by effectively treating these conditions in community settings.
The Disability Foundation primarily supports six charitable societies that provide accessible and meaningful activities.
Community Evolution (CE) is a non-profit organization, founded in 2015. Our mission is to enable community-based enterprises (eg. co-operatives) to develop, grow and create positive change for its members and surrounding community. We offer a customized, facilitated process that combines community mobilization and capacity building with financial mechanisms (grants or loans) to empower and sustain community development. We currently support enterprises in Bolivia, Ecuador, and Canada (British Columbia).
Paul’s Club is a social and recreational day program for men and women living with Young Onset Dementia.
We provide a physically and emotionally safe environment, with activities geared towards the specific needs of those experiencing symptoms of Young Onset Dementia. Paul's Club opened in 2012 and is the first and only program of its kind in Vancouver.
The Club has a warm, welcoming atmosphere and is designed to be fun!
Paul's Club is open from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 50 weeks of the year, and is led by a Program Director, Chelsea Grills, who has a degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Douglas College. A maximum of 15 Members attend the Club each day.
Paul's Club provides at least six hours a day of essential respite for caregivers.
Refreshments, snacks, and a daily choice of hot lunch are part of the program. Paul's Club has a warm, bright, and welcoming atmosphere. There is a large adjoining patio and a well equipped gym which we can enjoy on a daily basis.
The Club is located at The Hampton Inn & Suites on the corner of Robson and Beatty in Vancouver. You can take advantage of the convenient drop off area, which can be accessed from Beatty Street.

Our Story
Established in 2001, the company was founded by Métis artist Marie Clements as an Indigenous and multi-cultural theatre company and produced over a dozen new works for the mainstage. In 2007, Diane Roberts became artistic director, creating new work, touring internationally to the Caribbean, and working in collaboration with rural Indigenous communities. In 2014, Oji-Cree First Nations theatre artist Corey Payette became artistic director. Corey is committed to deepening Urban Ink’s strong tradition of developing and investing in the voices of Indigenous and diverse artists to create work that celebrates the diversity of Canadian theatre.
Evans Lake has been operating as a camp and outdoor education facility since 1960. The Centre is located 15 kilometres North of Squamish, BC on a picturesque mountain lake. Surrounded by forest, the Centre offers a feeling of wilderness seclusion while featuring all your basic amenities, accommodations and full catering.
Each year Evans Lake offers a full summer camp program with sessions for campers aged 8-12 years, 10-14years, 13-16 years, as well as Leadership Training Camps and wilderness based Outdoor Adventure Kamps (OAK).  Registration begins each year in January. We also offer a 4 day Winter Camp program for kids aged 8-16, in December each year.
The Centre is also open year-round and available for school field trips, family events, weddings, corporate retreats and private bookings. Rentals over 41 people offer exclusive use of the facility including full catering, use of all activity equipment and accommodations for 140.
We believe Outdoor Education is an experience every child should have. By taking the classroom to the great outdoors kids have an opportunity to get their hands dirty, learn in an interactive and fun environment, and develop personally.
The Eastside Arts Society [EAS] is a registered charitable society that represents the highest concentration of artists per capita in the country. This vital organization’s initiative is to build capacity and sustainability for artists. It offers nationally recognized juried exhibits, it connects the community with local artists, and it provides arts programming for inner city schools.
EAS programs the signature Eastside Culture Crawl visual arts festival held in November, an open artist studio event, along with workshops and demonstrations, increases the public’s understanding and appreciation of the many varied visual art practices in our city’s Eastside. EAS has also launched a new summer festival, the CREATE Arts Festival, and is developing the Eastside Arts District. ART HAPPENS HERE!
Neworld Theatre creates, produces, and tours new plays and performance events. We tell stories that are as complicated and contradictory as the enormously small country we live in. Historically, our work is rooted in an experience of ethnic and cultural diversity. While diversity remains a core value, our programming now asks a broader range of questions about responsibility, identity, and difference.
We rescue perfectly viable food that is destined for our waste stream and get it into the hands of those who are hungry in our society. We partner with food retailers, nonprofit organizations and volunteer food runners to bring food directly to those who are experiencing food insecurity.
The Vancouver International Marathon Society RUNVAN® is the non-profit, volunteer-run organization, responsible for organizing the BMO Vancouver Marathon, Vancouver’s only marathon event. The Society is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and delivers running events with a mandate to inspire active lifestyles and celebrate the value sport delivers to our communities. The event relies on the support of nearly 4,000 volunteers annually and has helped runners raise over $15 million for charity. Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festivals is the oldest and largest music festival in BC with a mission to help “Inspire Musical Excellence”. VKMF produces four annual festivals encompassing the Jazz Band Festival, Choral Festival, Concert Band and Orchestra Festival and the Solo and Small Ensemble Festival.
