We're a non-profit society serving approximately 350 riding and non-riding members of all ages and interests. We are also "home" to groups that cater to youth, riders with special needs, polo players, and recreational trail riders. The Club encourages volunteer participation, and welcomes visitors at our many public events.
Every year we host the Southlands Country Fair, which opens our unique neighbourhood to the rest of the city and invites everyone to "enjoy a day in the country without leaving the city"
As a Neighbourhood House, SVNH responds to the needs and aspirations of its community members by providing services, programs, special events, facilities and information to promote involvement and a spirit of community. As a social service agency, SVNH responds to the concerns, problems and changing needs of the community through program development, advocacy and a continuing effort to improve the quality of family and neighbourhood life in a creative, caring way.
Objectives:
To identify, assess and address the needs of the community
To provide practical services and special events that will help individuals and families address their personal and social development needs
To encourage the involvement of volunteers and provide them with training and support; and to recognize their significant contributions to SVNH and the community
To cooperate with other agencies in the assessing of needs and development of programs where appropriate
To provide an environment in which staff may grow and develop, receive fair treatment, derive job satisfaction and work to achieve the objectives of the organization, other non-profit groups and organizations, to the extent that facilities, personnel, funds and other resources allow.
South Vancouver Neighborhood House is a non-profit that runs and operates on unceded, occupied, ancestral and traditional homelands of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples. We exist to serve the needs of our community members in the Victoria-Fraserview, Sunset and Killarney neighborhoods. We recognize and acknowledge that our community is home to a large number of new immigrants, migrant workers, seniors living alone, young families and people of colour; we strive to provide the most accessible, culturally appropriate services for all our neighbors. From childcare, seniors tai-chi groups, immigration support and food programming, we are proud to offer a range of activities for people of all ages and backgrounds. The South Vancouver Neighborhood House believes in fostering strong neighborhoods through continual support, intergenerational engagement and community care.
The South Asian Family Association (SAFA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to highlighting the South Asian community and culture.
Our goals are:
- to promote positive images of the South Asian community
- enhance cross-cultural understanding
- empower families to maintain their heritage while embracing Canadian culture.
Some of the ways we have accomplished these goals include:
- organizing Indian festivals (including our annual summer India Live festival and Diwali functions)
- providing annual scholarships to high school students who have demonstrated excellence in academics and community service
- holding International Women's Day forums and Mothers & Daughters dinners
- running youth summer camps
- organizing health fairs for the South Asian community.
The Society for Children and Youth of BC (SCY) is a unique provincial organization dedicated to improving the well-being of children and youth in British Columbia.
Since 1974, the Society has focused on providing a strong voice representing children and youth. We provide support to adult duty bearers to improve the well-being of children and youth in British Columbia.
Using the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child as a foundation, SCY has a track record of creating and delivering programs that have motivated change in research, legislation, policy, and practice in Canada.
Founded in 1969, the Society Promoting Environmental Conservation (SPEC) is a non-profit charitable organization that provides practical solutions for urban sustainability. Areas of work include local food security, zero waste, renewable energy and climate action. Farm-to-Plate Marketplace is one of the many food security initiatives that SPEC supports.
Farm-to-Plate is a virtual marketplace that provides consumers of all income levels with direct access to fresh, local produce through online ordering and weekly pick-ups. It is designed to directly connect farmers and community members in a way that is manageable for both parties. The program started in November 2020 at Little Mountain Neighbourhood House and has now expanded to include Jewish Family Services, each of whom run a virtual farmer’s marketplace. As many people are food insecure the program uses a pay-what-you-can model with a subsidy option so that locally grown food can be accessible to all income levels.
The Social Butterfly Club has over 2,800 members in the Lower Mainland, and around the world and we are still constantly growing! Members are business professionals and entrepreneurs from a wide range of career fields and expertise between the ages of 20-70 who love to network, explore and grow personally. The purpose of our club is to create connections; provide information and business resources to our members; and to inspire and enhance their professional and personal lives. Soap for Hope Canada provides access to essential hygiene products to improve the health, hope, and dignity of vulnerable people, from children to seniors, low-income families, refugees, Indigenous Communities, homeless people, and people in Evacuation Centers for fires and floods.
The organization primarily works with the hotel industry, collecting and repurposing gently used hygiene products, linens, and lost & found, that would otherwise end up in landfills. Soap for Hope Canada processes and distributes them to Community Facilities serving those in need.
Since 2015, Soap for Hope Canada has distributed nearly 10 million hygiene products and linens, diverting almost 1 million pounds from the landfill.

The Sustainability Office was established to support the work of the Senior Sustainability Council in the development of SFU's Sustainability Strategic Plan, to support and facilitate the University-wide effort to implement the plan, to maintain programs already established, and to develop new programs to support University-wide sustainability initiatives.
The Sustainability Office provides institutional support and coordination for departments, units, groups and individuals to advance sustainability initiatives at and beyond SFU and is the central hub for sustainability innovation at SFU.
Located in the heart of North Vancouver, Silver Harbour Seniors' Activity Centre is a recreational centre designed to inspire and enhance the physical and mental well-being of adults 55 plus. We offer a wide range of social, creative, educational, and physical activities as well as numerous services for seniors. We rely on the expertise and commitment of volunteers and the support of a number of dedicated funders and donors.
