As a result of globalization and educational research, the “image of a child” has changed from that of an empty vessel or thirsty sponge to that of a “competent and unique individual” bringing her own strengths and learning competencies to the table. This in turn has brought about a shift from theories of learning that support the top-down transfer of select information to theories that support the co-construction of knowledge in the classroom and beyond. We believe literature is the best conduit with which to construct such knowledge. This shift is reflected in the philosophical base of all programs offered at the Lyceum. At the Lyceum we choose to concentrate on the perceptual dimension of learning in an effort to challenge binary thinking and encourage exploration of “possibilities.” Nurturing a lens through which to view personal, local, and global interactions helps children develop guiding principles when approaching problematic situations inherent in a diverse society.

Chinese Gold Ribbon Society of Canada is the first society in Canada that supports Chinese families of children in critical sick condition. We provide emotional support and financial support for the children and parents. Chinese Gold Ribbon Society of Canada 加拿大华人金丝带协会 wants to spread our message of hope and compassion. We believe that a single action can make a difference in the community, and that collective action can greatly impact the world. Through advocacy and outreach activities, our team works tirelessly each day to contribute their part to the greater good.

Chinese. Indigenous. Children. The Chinese Cultural Preservation Federation Society is focused on educating and promoting Chinese Canadian cultural heritage and Chinese Indigenous relations to children and young future leaders of our nation. Our organization is to promote, celebrate and commemorate the important role Chinese immigrants have played in shaping Canada since the late 1800’s. While unveiling the history, we will also uncover, commemorate, and promote the inter-cultural connections between the Chinese immigrants and the Indigenous people. We strive to educate and promote Chinese culture by creating programs of activities where children and family members will learn and reinforce their Chinese cultural heritage. Meanwhile, we consistently seek collaborating opportunities to educate and remind our children and family members the importance of maintaining and enhancing Chinese and Indigenous inter-cultural relations. We work with children of all age groups, from age 3 to 18. Our mandate is to create a platform for children and families to learn, explore, socialize, and collaborate in a fun environment. By working with local municipalities and provinces we hope to promote Chinese cultural heritage and Indigenous reconciliation through the lens of cultural diversity. The Chinese Community Policing Center (CCPC) is a non-profit charity organization operating in the heart of the Vancouver Chinatown area since 1992. We work in collaboration with the Vancouver Police Department, and community partners and volunteers to reduce crime and enhance safety in Chinatown. We develop and implement programs to support and assist victims of crime to promote safety. We devote in building relationships to bridge the gap between the service providers and the community while finding the needs of the community, creating a safe and livable social environment.

The Chinese Canadian Museum Society of British Columbia was founded in March 2020 as an independent, non-profit society to establish and operate a public museum in British Columbia honouring Chinese Canadian history, contributions, and living heritage. The Chinese Canadian Museum will be a testament to Chinese Canadian experiences, foster respect, inclusion, and collaboration among all communities and across generations. Telling stories through the diverse voices of Chinese Canadians is central to the development of CCM. Guided by its mission statement “Connecting to the Chinese Canadian story – addressing inclusion for all,” the Chinese Canadian Museum aspires to provide an invigorating and transformative experience for present and future generations through its exhibitions and programming throughout B.C. and Canada. Children’s Autism Federation of B.C. (CAFBC) was founded as a grassroots organization to hold the government accountable for policy decisions surrounding individual autism funding in British Columbia (B.C.). As we continue to navigate through the political and ethical issues surrounding any shift in a service delivery model, the Children’s Autism Federation of B.C. remains focused on ensuring that all autistic children and their families have their voices amplified and their needs understood. CAFBC will continue to hold the government accountable for any change that will negatively impact children in the autism community and continue to bring awareness to these issues. WHAT WE DO Children's Autism Federation of BC has focused on advocacy and support for a service delivery model that truly encompasses the needs of all autistic children. We are non-profit organization that receives no government funding. The primary focus being the importance of retaining individual funding and timely diagnosis. CAFBC also supports families throughout their pre to post-diagnosis journey. We have provided recommendations to the Government on a framework for children and youth with support needs. Most recently, CAFBC launched our Research and Support Division. This enables families to find resources and support within a one-stop-shop delivery model. Families may access support for the application of autism funding, advocacy-related resources or even autism-related recommendations.

CITL is a non-profit student-run organization that aims to promote chess across Canada to players of all ages and skill levels. Through weekly chess programs held in libraries across Canada to seasonal tournaments, CITL provides an environment where anyone can come and play a casual match.

Chance to Play is a non-profit organization providing opportunities to children and youth across Canada and communities in developing countries to engage in soccer. Impacting communities through the soccer recycling program that offers environmental sustainability by collecting and redistributing gently used soccer uniforms and equipment by collaborating with soccer clubs.

The Cerebral Palsy Association of British Columbia was started in 1954 by a group of parents who wanted to assist their children living with cerebral palsy to reach their maximum potential within society. Today we are an independent charitable organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. We provide support, education, and information throughout BC. Central City supports charities and non-profit groups seeking to raise funds or increase awareness by providing free interior and exterior space at the centre. Throughout the year, Central City also hosts many events in-centre to raise funds for local charities in the Surrey area. CelticFest Vancouver is a non-profit Society registered in British Columbia since 2004. The Society’s mission is to: Bring together the local community in an annual festival celebration of Celtic Culture and the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Deliver education on global Celtic heritage, art and cultural traditions. Promote and showcase local and international Celtic music, dance, spoken word, theatre, film, art, crafts, food/beverage and Highland sports.
