The Chinese Community Policing Center (CCPC) is a non-profit charity organization operating in the heart of the Vancouver Chinatown area since 1992. We work in collaboration with the Vancouver Police Department, and community partners and volunteers to reduce crime and enhance safety in Chinatown. We develop and implement programs to support and assist victims of crime to promote safety. We devote in building relationships to bridge the gap between the service providers and the community while finding the needs of the community, creating a safe and livable social environment.
Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House plays a leadership role in building a healthy and engaged neighbourhood by connecting people and strengthening their capacity to create change.
Founded in 1986, Mavis McMullen Housing Society (MMHS) is a grassroots non-profit charitable organization committed to providing women-led safe housing and building community for at-risk families. The Society came to be through the efforts of a group of women living and working in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside who saw a need for permanent, safe and affordable housing for women and their children. The Society operates two housing complexes: Mavis McMullen Place, located in the Downtown Eastside, has 34 suites providing housing for 55 residents; Haley Place, located in East Vancouver, contains 39 suites housing 79 residents.
Kids Help Phone is Canada’s only 24/7 e-mental health service offering free, confidential support to young people in English and French.
Kids Help Phone has a pioneering history of creating innovative supports for critical issues young people face. We began in 1989 as a unique telephone counselling service, launched to provide free, accessible support to any young person reaching out from coast to coast to coast.
Our focus was supporting young people experiencing abuse, but almost immediately, young people let us know they needed more from the service than one focus and one way to reach us.
For over 30 years, we’ve evolved our response and offerings. We concentrate on staying relevant to youth, recognizing the complexity of issues they face, and we help to ensure our professional counsellors and volunteer crisis responders are ready to address young people’s continuum of emotional and mental health needs, from crisis situations to the everyday concerns of growing up.
Streetohome changes lives and builds better futures for individuals with lived experience or at-risk of homelessness. Streetohome strives to broker the integration of evidence-based and promising practices that address gaps in the homelessness services system to better meet the employment & volunteering; education, skills & training; health & wellness; housing; legal & advocacy; and community & belonging needs of vulnerable individuals.
Project Hastings is a high-school student-led nonprofit organization that combats poverty and hunger in the Vancouver, Downtown Eastside through monthly meal and care package distributions. Since 2020, Project Hastings has distributed over 10,000 sandwiches and has had assistance from over 150 volunteers from the Metro Vancouver area.
A popular community festival is returning to Richmond this summer. On August 14th, from 10am-3pm, the Sharing Farm is hosting the 12th Annual Richmond Garlic Fest in the award-winning Terra Nova Rural Park!
Highlights for festival-goers include live birds-of-prey flying demonstrations, a celebrated children's area, an expanded farmers market, food trucks with garlic-enhanced dishes, and live entertainment.
Admission to the festival is by donation and is suitable for all ages. Limited parking is available. A bike valet service will be available in a securely guarded area near the festival entrance, so consider cycling or taking transit to this event. All proceeds from the festival go to supporting the Sharing Farm in its mission to provide fresh, healthy, sustainably grown produce to community members facing food insecurity.

WE ARE THE WORLD are a organization that are donating money for School In a Box, a activity UNICEF made to let more kids who don’t have the opportunity to go to school, get the chance to receive their education. WE ARE THE WORLD are going to help those kids by raise funds through various methods such as charity sales, charity performances, fundraising, and public fundraising.
Restoring respect, dignity and pride for Aboriginal Peoples
The Aboriginal Front Door Society is a culturally safe, peer-designed non-judgmental place for Aboriginal Peoples and their friends and family in the Downtown East Side.
We Create hope and offer support through Aboriginal cultural traditions, caring, and acceptance.
We are a meeting place and a drop-in centre with a welcoming environment, providing opportunities to learn more about Aboriginal Peoples and Culture. When necessary, we can also offer other services, such as serving as a crisis centre, brokering long-term and specialty trauma counseling, and doing court accompaniments.
Our goal is to restore respect, dignity, and pride to our members.
For 125 years, YWCA Metro Vancouver has been supporting women and families as they pursue their dreams and goals. We advance gender equity alongside women, families, Two-Spirit and gender diverse people through advocacy and integrated services that help support personal, collective and economic wellbeing.
Battered Women’s Support Services provides direct services to survivors of gender-based violence and abuse. We support survivors of intimate partner violence and abuse, sexual assault, and childhood sexual assault.
A feminist voice against violence and oppression, BWSS is a strong, dynamic organization that provides support and advocacy for women who have experienced abuse, as well as community education and training about violence against women. Part of a global feminist anti-violence movement, our long-term goal is the elimination of all violence against women and girls.
We contribute to the freedom and liberation of girls and women from violence and to empower our community through training and education programs.
Since 1979, we have been provided counselling and healing spaces for those who have experienced abuse. To help women build strength and resiliency, we work on institutional and systemic advocacy, legal advocacy and law reform, youth engagement and we operate two social enterprises: My Sister’s Closet and Strategic Interventions in British Columbia.
The GWCPC
The Grandview-Woodland Community Policing Centre is dedicated to providing crime prevention assistance and education to the Commercial Drive corridor and surrounding area.
Members of the community are encouraged, through education and engagement in volunteering with the GWCPC, to become active participants in increasing safety awareness and decreasing opportunities for crime to occur.
