The Self Employment and Entrepreneur Development Society (SEEDS) is a business start up and development program dedicated to supporting the development of entrepreneurs and the growth of businesses in our community.
Language Partners BC is a volunteer-run umbrella organization supporting one-to-one language exchange programs in Vancouver. We bring together adults from different language backgrounds and provide infrastructure for them to learn languages together and build relationships. Many of the English learners are new immigrants or refugees, and our programs are focused on supporting these newcomers in conversation and settlement.
The Saint James Music Academy, or the SJMA, is a non-profit organization that engages and empowers at-risk and underserved youth in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside (DTES) through the powers of arts education. It is a convergence of musicians, music lovers, and passionate community members who share in the belief that music – listening to music, learning music, being surrounded by music, being part of the music – is a powerful ally in generating joyful and positive social transformation. The SJMA believes that music is an opportunity that should be accessible to all regardless of their social or economic status.

JA (Junior Achievement) is the world’s largest NGO dedicated to educating young people about business. We strive to inspire and prepare youth to succeed in a global economy. With over 120 member organizations worldwide, JA brings a global view of business to local communities. We partner with educators, donors and volunteers to bring a real world experience into the classroom. Our programs focused on financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship give students the skills and confidence they need to become leaders of tomorrow.
The Vancouver Art Therapy Institute (VATI) was founded in 1982 as a non-profit society and a charitable organization. VATI has been accredited by the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) since 1998. VATI is committed to providing an educational experience that cultivates student creativity, self-awareness, and therapeutic competence. We aim to train art therapists who are active members of the art therapy community, and good ambassadors to the larger community.
As a school we offer an art therapy diploma to students who complete our program. Students take face-to-face and online courses, complete 700 hours of volunteer practicum time in the community, and then write a final project. VATI also offers a student run art therapy clinic where students, under supervision, offer art therapy to the public at a very reduced rate.
Delta Farm Roots is a groundbreaking mini-school in Tsawwassen, South Delta. Students attend the school every other day for lessons in sciences, social sciences and business. With days in the classroom and afternoons in the field, our mini-school offers a unique opportunity for students to broaden their horizons and get dirty while engaging in their local community and food system. Throughout the year students visit other local food advocates whilst planning their market garden.
The Mount Pleasant Community Centre Association is a non-profit organization that operates two licensed child care facilities. We offer programs for children from 3 months to 12 years old which include all day care, preschool and out of school care..
The MPCCA is dedicated to supporting families in our community. We value the uniqueness of individual families and their backgrounds that enrich our programs. We recognize that each child and their family have different needs, interests and expectations. Our goal is to build partnerships with families and neighborhood organizations to support children to grow to be healthy, caring and competent adults. We support families by providing programs, information and resources to assist them in their role as parents/guardians.
Graines de Chefs offers nutrition and healthy cooking classes to kids in schools and after school program in the Great Vancouver area.
CISV International is a global organization dedicated to educating and inspiring for peace through building inter-cultural friendship, cooperation and understanding. We offer an exciting blend of seven international camp-based, family exchange and local community programmes. We aim to help our participants develop the skills they need to become informed, responsible and active global citizens and make a difference in their communities and the world.
Frontier College is a national non-profit literacy organization that has been working with kids, teens, and adults for over 100 years. We connect with diverse communities and respond to specific learning needs and gifts, in order to develop and deliver inclusive literacy-based activities for all learners. We work in partnership with community-based programs in multiple locations around Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. Through tutor recruitment, training, and placement we support individuals and communities in reaching their literacy and learning goals.

The Cedar Science Camp is an ongoing UBC initiative to promote science education to Aboriginal youth (aged 8-12) within the lower mainland. Cedar is supported by the UBC Faculties of Science and Land and Food Systems at UBC.
