BC School Sports is an organization of over 450 public and independent member schools in British Columbia. It is the governing body for school sport and coordinates and delivers opportunities with our member schools for interschool competitions in 18 activities to over 117,000 student-athletes each year. BCSS delivers 61 provincial championships each year to over 16,000 student-athletes, recognized as the pinnacle of interscholastic competition.

Welcome to Reach Education! Our curriculum-focused programs, cater to children in grades K-8. We are pleased to offer a variety of activities, including Birthday Parties, Camps, After School Enrichment Classes to families across Vancouver, New Westminster, Richmond, and Burnaby.

Stream of Dreams is Canadian Charity that runs eco-education programs teaching children about local watersheds and how to protect them. For over 20 years, our award-winning Fish on Fences program educates entire schools about their local watershed, streams, rivers, and the ocean. We promote behavioural change to conserve and protect water, empower youth to make positive environmental impacts, and create a community art legacy. It’s science, it’s art, and it’s fun! Recent partnerships with Wildcoast Ecological Society have included hands-on environmental restoration in combination with our in-class programming. Our new Indigenous programming is provided free for children who identify as Métis or any other Canadian Indigenous Nation. These camps include a variety of activities, crafts and games taught by local Knowledge Keepers with a goal of learning more about this unique culture.

The Jua Centre is a non-profit organization with a presence in the Ottawa region that empowers African, Caribbean, and Black girls and young women aged 10 to 19. It focuses on building leadership, STEM, and green skills in environmental sustainability and climate action. Key Focus Areas and Activities Youth Empowerment: Connecting youth to climate action, science literacy, and community leadership roles. Workshops: Offering interactive educational sessions focused on climate literacy and problem-solving for ages 8-18 Operations: Operating with remote and hybrid involvement based out of Ottawa

Title: Volunteer Summer Camp Assistant Nature: Work closely with Summer Camp Leader and Co-Leader to provide a safe and fun environment at the Summer Day Camp being delivered at a family-oriented social housing complex. Excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience working with children aged 6-12. Duties: - Assist with supervision of summer camp participants. - Interact and engage with participants during sport/art/educational activities. - Assist staff with daily set-up, activity preparation, and clean-up. - Accompany summer camp staff and participants on field trips. - Provide input into and feedback on camp activities. Qualifications/Requirements: - Applicants must be above the age of 15. (University students preferred). - Experience in working with school aged children in a camp/group setting an asset. - Energetic, enthusiastic, and creative. - Mature, responsible, and reliable. - Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to work in a team environment. - Proficient in English; ability to speak an additional language is an asset. - Clear Criminal Record Check and Reference Check required. - First Aid and CPR training preferred but not a requirement. - Minimum commitment of 36 hours (6 shifts); regular availability throughout camp dates preferred. - Must attend volunteer orientation – Date and time TBA. Duration: - Shifts: Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays from July 3rd –August 6th, 2019. - Hours from 9:30am-3:30pm. - Additional shifts may be available for special events and/or field trips. Employ to Empower (ETE) supports residents in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside (DTES) community by providing access to development and entrepreneurial resources. Our resources include affordable microloans and business mentorship, with the goal of having a long-term impact on our members’ personal and economic well-being. Located in a heritage fire station built in 1906, the Firehall Arts Centre produces a season of eclectic theatre, dance and interdisciplinary performances and acts as a host to visual arts exhibitions in its intimate gallery/lounge. Each year the Centre hosts over two hundred performances bringing audiences into the heart of the city to enjoy artistic works, view art works in the gallery and sip a beverage on the enclosed courtyard.
