Our Mission
Parkinson Society British Columbia is the voice of British Columbians living with Parkinson's. Our purpose is to ease the burden and find a cure for Parkinson's disease through advocacy, education, research and support services.
About Us
Established in 1969, Parkinson Society British Columbia, governed by a voluntary Board of Directors, receives no government funding and is supported entirely by donations from individuals, members, corporations, foundations and the dedicated efforts of volunteers.
Every person touched by Parkinson's deserves to know that they are not alone in their journey. We are here for you. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff is committed to offering support, sharing reliable information and raising funds for programs and research.
We are part of a strong community united in our dedication to improve the lives of those affected by Parkinson's.
The British Columbia Lions Society for Children With Disabilities has been a registered charitable organization since 1947. You may also know us as Easter Seals. Under both names, our mandate is to support children with disabilities throughout British Columbia and the Yukon.
We are dedicated to enriching the lives of children with disabilities. We are committed to doing all we can to enhance their lives. Our vision for the future is to continue building specialized services and facilities and challenging young hearts and minds as well. Giving children with disabilities self-esteem, self-confidence and a sense of independence is what we are all about.
This kind of dedication takes patience, determination, courage and significant financial support. British Columbians can contribute to the BC Lions Society through a variety of special events, annual appeals and legacy gifts. Your generous support enables the Society to give children abilities whether they attend a summer camp or use one of our many services.
Through your donations, we will develop positive ideas and attitudes, build quality programs and services, and continue to help give future generations of children abilities.
Our interdisciplinary team offers a variety of health and social services under one roof, which means we strive to be much more than just a doctor’s or dentist’s office.
Services we provide include: primary health care within a team setting, groups and health education, dental services, pharmacy, counseling, social work services, and the Multicultural Family Centre. We are a registered charity governed by an elected Board of Directors. Our board regularly undertakes community consultations and updates our strategic plan, strategic direction and values statement. REACH is also a member of The Canadian Alliance of Community Health Centre Associations (CACHCA).
ShelterBox is an international disaster relief charity whose mission is to rapidly provide safe shelter and tools to families devastated by conflict and natural disaster to ensure that no family goes without shelter.
Portobello West fashion and art market is a monthly market held in Vancouver, BC, Canada. The Market is a regular monthly event from March to December at which local designers and artisans can sell their creations directly to the public. It was established in August 2006 by Carlie Smith, a graduate of the University of Victoria who, after living in London, England for two years, wanted to bring the European style market atmosphere to her home town. Carlie envisioned a regular event that would raise the profile of local designers and artisans as well as be a regular outdoor community event.
Situated in Vancouver’s West End, MascallDance is a hub for creation, guerrilla improvisation and somatic practice. Jennifer Mascall is at the core, creating and working in many forms. The company’s production The Three Cornered Hat was recently featured in the Vancouver Biennale, and its’ kamikaze improvisation unit The Nijinsky Gibber Jazz Club opened the Vancouver International Dance Festival.
MascallDance is supported by the Canada Council for the Arts, the British Columbia Arts Council, The City of Vancouver, The McLean Foundation, The British Columbia Gaming Commission, Salt Spring Coffee, and the ate community.
Aquafit for All Association is a non-profit organization in Vancouver. Our mission is to develop and provide affordable aquatic/aquatic exercise opportunities for individuals with disabilities and/or injuries of all ages.
Craft Council of British Columbia is a charitable arts service organization which supports all stages of artistic practice in the craft sector; creates opportunities for artists to exhibit, sell and produce art; provides a voice for artists and craft organizations and aids in the development of active communities around craft.

This is without a doubt the most scenic race within BC’s Lower Mainland. Join us on this one of a kind ‘beach to bridge to beach to bridge to beach’ run.
This incredible point to point 14 km journey starts from Kitsilano Beach, takes you past the Maritime Museum and the Pacific Space Centre along the seawall, then over the Burrard Street Bridge along the English Bay seawall to Second Beach in Stanley Park, and finally, over the Lion’s Gate Bridge and into Ambleside Beach Park to the birthplace of the North Shore Coho salmon.
The 14K distance provides a great challenge for the 10K runner and a fabulous training run for the ½ marathon trainer. Please note the Coho Run is capped at 700 participants, so be sure to grab your spot early.
At the finish line you will enter into the Coho Festival site where you will have the opportunity to participate in this annual festival celebrating the return of the Coho Salmon to the North Shore. Festival activities include environmental displays, visual arts exhibitions, entertainment by local and visiting performers, and of course the famous Salmon Barbeque.
All net proceeds of this event help to support salmon enhancement projects including stream stewardship.
Language Partners BC is a volunteer-run umbrella organization supporting one-to-one language exchange programs in Vancouver. We bring together adults from different language backgrounds and provide infrastructure for them to learn languages together and build relationships. Many of the English learners are new immigrants or refugees, and our programs are focused on supporting these newcomers in conversation and settlement.
Positive Living BC is dedicated to empowering persons living with HIV/AIDS through mutual support and collective action. We are a registered non-profit Society (#11928-2085) and an established leader in the HIV/AIDS movement.
With a membership of more than 5,700 HIV-positive members and a proud history spanning three decades, we are Western Canada’s largest AIDS service organization and an established leader in the HIV/AIDS movement.
