Graines de Chefs offers nutrition and healthy cooking classes to kids in schools and after school program in the Great Vancouver area.
LOCO’s researches and promotes the benefits of independent business - how they circulate dollars many times, create good jobs, and support other local suppliers. We do this because we believe resilient communities must be underpinned by strong economies and build shared economic prosperity. LOCO coordinates a Buy Local campaign in the province, work with communities to promote local economic development, research trends and recommends policy changes. We engage businesses, consumers and organizations to raise awareness of the economic and community benefits of independent businesses. We survey and engage businesses to measure and promote their community economic impact. We produce research that demonstrates the beneficial practices and impacts of independent businesses, engage businesses to measure, further and promote their impacts, and educate consumers and purchasers to influence them to buy local products and services whenever possible. We also research the challenges faced by independent businesses, advocate for reducing these barriers, and work to build bridges between businesses and policymakers.
Asian-Canadian Special Events Association is a Vancouver-based non-profit organization that creates sustainable projects in the areas of arts and culture, and works with partners across British Columbia, Canada, and internationally. Our three mandates: 1. Community Engagement, 2. Fostering New Artistic and Cultural Expressions, and 3. Platform to Learn and Share.
ACSEA has a long history of curating and producing large events, including a very successful partnership with Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics Cultural Olympiad. Postmodern Camerata (PMC) is a non-profit chamber music organization starting its 4th successful season. We’ve performed at a variety of venues including Dunbar Heights United Church, the Canadian Music Centre’s Murray Adaskin Salon and the Orpheum Annex. We’re recognized for our unique ensemble structure (having both instruments and singers) and in recent years, have received support from the SOCAN Foundation and the Vancouver Civic Theatres. We provide opportunities for Canadian composers, and as our name suggests, we play chamber music repertoire that is both traditional and modern. Compared to other ensembles in Vancouver, our musician’s time commitments are more flexible and our repertoire selections feature a wider variety of genres. Most importantly we have an educational outreach mandate to mentor young performers and to encourage youngsters to attend our performances.
Albahaca Footwear is a not-for-profit footwear company founded in Vancouver in December 2016. All proceeds from sales, after costs, are given to a rotation of Guatemalan charities. Our boots are handmade, quality leather ankle boots - made with love by our small team of craftsmen in Pastores, Guatemala.
Goals:
Provide quality employment for Guatemalan boot makers
Provide ethical, handmade, durable boots to Canadians
Support a variety of Guatemalan charities focused on health and education
KidSafe is a Vancouver non-profit organization that provides a safe haven for vulnerable children during the times schools are out of session. We do this by running educational activities, assisting in social- emotional development and support, providing nutritious meals daily and organizing field trips for the children that may be otherwise be unattainable for many vulnerable families.
All of our children are referred to us by their teachers as one of the most economically and emotionally vulnerable students in their school, students who are the most t risk when school is closed. All the programs and activities are offered free of charge
