For 125 years, YWCA Metro Vancouver has been supporting women and families as they pursue their dreams and goals.  We advance gender equity alongside women, families, Two-Spirit and gender diverse people through advocacy and integrated services that help support personal, collective and economic wellbeing.
The Fire Dragon Festival will bring the Chinatown community together past and present through celebration, cultural activities and performances, culinary exploration, and the appreciation of intangible heritage. Battered Women’s Support Services provides direct services to survivors of gender-based violence and abuse. We support survivors of intimate partner violence and abuse, sexual assault, and childhood sexual assault. A feminist voice against violence and oppression, BWSS is a strong, dynamic organization that provides support and advocacy for women who have experienced abuse, as well as community education and training about violence against women. Part of a global feminist anti-violence movement, our long-term goal is the elimination of all violence against women and girls. We contribute to the freedom and liberation of girls and women from violence and to empower our community through training and education programs. Since 1979, we have been provided counselling and healing spaces for those who have experienced abuse. To help women build strength and resiliency, we work on institutional and systemic advocacy, legal advocacy and law reform, youth engagement and we operate two social enterprises: My Sister’s Closet and Strategic Interventions in British Columbia.
Founded in 2000, Rainbow Refugee promotes safe, equitable migration and communities of belonging for people fleeing persecution based on their sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or HIV status. We provide support, information, and system navigation to refugees and refugee claimants seeking refugee status in Canada. We manage the Rainbow Refugee Assistant Partnership, allowing us to privately sponsor refugees in collaboration with other LGBTQI+ organizations in the Rainbow Coalition for Refuge.

The society exists to educate the public about documentary film as an art form through DOXA Documentary Film Festival, a curated and juried festival comprised of public screenings, panel discussions, public forums and educational programs. The 22nd annual DOXA Documentary Film Festival takes place May 4 thru 14, 2023. DOXA also presents VanPodFest. The Documentary Media Society is a member tenant of the 110 Arts Co-op which manages The Post at 750 office and studio facilities. The Documentary Media Society is located on the traditional and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples. DOXA (pronounced dox'-ah) is a greek word meaning common belief or popular opinion.
The GWCPC The Grandview-Woodland Community Policing Centre is dedicated to providing crime prevention assistance and education to the Commercial Drive corridor and surrounding area. Members of the community are encouraged, through education and engagement in volunteering with the GWCPC, to become active participants in increasing safety awareness and decreasing opportunities for crime to occur. We offer services to people in recovery from addiction and alcoholism. This includes many different 12 step fellowships that individuals can attend. Information and referral assistance, a homeless outreach program, individual counselling and a volunteer program. We offer these services 7 days a week.
