DCECEC Society is a non- profit organization dedicated to providing childcare services for children of Students, Staff and Faculty of Douglas College as well as Community Families.
We operate two licensed childcare facilities, one at each Douglas College Campus; New Westminster Campus in New Westminster and the David Lam Campus in Coquitlam.
The Society consists of approximately 55 members and employs 1 General Manager and 8 Early Childhood Educators.
The Society is governed by its Constitution and Bylaws as well as its License agreements with the Fraser Health Authority.
The Society operates with a volunteer Board of Directors consisting of a total of 7 parent and community members, 1 Early Childhood Education Faculty Member and 1 General Manager (non-voting).
RunForH2O is the premier fundraising event for Gwatermala, a campaign initiative focused on building awareness and compassion for the cause.
Gwatermala builds sustainable water systems that are gravity-fed from the mountain springs in the rural areas of Guatemala. The local communities are thoroughly educated on how to maintain the systems, ensuring they have access to clean water for life.
Our water projects are executed through our partner, HOPE International Development Agency, a non-profit organization based locally in New Westminster. For over 40 years, HOPE’s mission is to connect with people in the world’s most vulnerable communities through compassion and continuous giving.
We are committed to building sustainable clean water projects in the most impoverished communities in Guatemala. Since 2013, we have been able to build clean water systems in different communities each year in Quiche, the Guatemalan province with the highest level of poverty.
Building on a strong tradition of caring and community support, Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation (RCHF) was established in 1978 to raise funds for the hospital’s first CT Scanner. Since then, the mission of RCHF has been to raise money to help the hospital save lives, restore health and provide comfort to seriously injured and ill patients of all ages.
Today, RCHF is an independent charitable organization that raises millions of dollars each year to fund major projects, priority equipment needs, facility enhancements, research, education and innovation at RCH.

The Metro Vancouver Dream Centre works to bridge the issues of food insecurity and food waste. Through our two ongoing primary projects, a hot meal service and a community food bank, we work to provide donated food to people who need it. Our meal service is held two Fridays a month in East Vancouver, and we serve a nutritious dinner to approximately 70 to 100 people. Our no-barrier food bank is held two Fridays a month in East Vancouver and serves approximately 80 to 100 people.
We also put on an annual Thanksgiving dinner for the community, where we serve a full Thanksgiving meal to 300 to 500 people.
Our clients come from many types of situations. Some live outdoors or in shelters, while many have apartments or rooms. Some are on social assistance, and some work but are unable to afford both rent and food. Some are elderly, and we also serve families with children. Our volunteers are a diverse group working together for a common purpose: reducing food waste, increasing access to nutritious food, and creating community.
For several years the CII has proudly and successfully facilitated the economic and social integration of countless members of the immigrant community. We owe our success to our innovative employment and education programs, and community engagement initiatives.
Are you passionate about helping youth? The YMCA of Greater Vancouver is looking for volunteers aged 18 and older interested in fostering relationships, facilitating workshops, learning together, cultivating youth-led experiences and working with young people aged 10 to 17. If you are passionate, reliable, encouraging, open-minded and able to commit for six months to a year then we want to hear from you. Sign up here to make a difference in a young person’s life.
Connaught Heights Elementary School (K-5) is having a Spring Carnival on Friday June 3, from 5-8pm.
We are looking for volunteers for this very exciting event.
We require help for the hours of 4-8:30pm for multiple stations such as games, concession and ticket sales.
Anyone interested in volunteering can sign up for hourly slots or can work the whole event.
The NWSS marching band is doing a 15 minute performance at this event as well!

Downtown New Westminster is home to over 600 businesses, enhancing community and economic growth. We support retail, hospitality, professional services, and creative sectors with resources like promotions, networking, and events.
We host a six night street festival that is free and open to the public most Fridays nights in July and August. We need individuals that can help us setup and take down our event.
