Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre is a multi-use facility in Burnaby, BC. Nikkei Seniors Health Care and Housing Society is a non-profit charitable organization offering subsidized housing, health care, activities, and social programs to seniors. We are committed to the senior’s long living and good health.
Our Purpose: We offer quality housing, health care, and social programs for seniors in our
community so they may experience wellness, connection, and belonging.

Our vision is to create a community without barriers for survivors of stroke.
At the NSSRC, we envision a future without barriers for survivors of stroke. Since 1974, our team has worked on the organization’s mission to maximize the quality of life for people impacted by stroke through accessible programming, peer support and healthcare partnerships. We are the only community-based program that supports stroke recovery for North & West Vancouver and Sea-to-Sky corridor residents, operating 4 days of therapy and support programming per week.
At the NSSRC, we seek to work with individuals of diverse characteristics, backgrounds and perspectives. We strongly believe that passion and talent makes no distinctions based on gender, ethnic or national origin, sexual identity and orientation, age, religion or disability, but enriches itself through these differences.
North Shore Volunteers for Seniors is a non-profit Society, founded in 1961, dedicated to promoting independence and well-being of seniors. We offer diverse and accessible programs to seniors at our Centre located in West Vancouver. We match qualified volunteers with seniors living independently in their homes or care facilities.
North Van Arts, founded in 1969 as The North Vancouver Community Arts Council, is a grassroots, social-profit, charitable cultural organization dedicated to maximizing the intrinsic value of the arts in all media.
Our mandate is to enable emerging and professional artists in all disciplines, to bridge cultures, and to build strong and healthy communities through the arts.
Located in CityScape Community Art Space, the organization consists of a volunteer Board of Directors, an Executive Director and support staff, and over 100 dedicated volunteers. Our membership is over 500 strong and includes individuals, students, seniors, families, cultural groups and businesses.
The North Vancouver Museum & Archives is a community-focused organization, and is operated under the auspices of the City and District of North Vancouver, as a municipal agency. It exists to engage, strengthen and inspire our community and its visitors. Its vision is to be recognized and respected as a dynamic and relevant organization that provides access to and gives authentic voice to the stories of North Vancouver’s people and places by creating a deeply engaging cultural heritage organization that connects in transformative ways with core audiences.
The North Vancouver Visitor Centre provides plenty of information on local activities and events, attractions, local shops, sightseeing tours and accommodations so you can make the most of your visit to Vancouver's North Shore Where Nature Lives. We are located inside the Lonsdale Quay Market (ground floor, north end), just a few steps away from the SeaBus terminal. We offer free information, reservations and accommodations services.
ONE TO ONE is a unique children’s literacy program that provides one-to- one tutoring to elementary school students who struggle with reading. Our trained volunteers work with students in schools during school hours. These students are identified by their teachers as needing a boost in their literacy skills. The program is aimed at the grey-area students, those who do not receive any other resource support directly from the schools (i.e. no designated learning issues) but are not yet reading at grade level and often receive little or no literacy support at home.
ONE TO ONE provides these children with an opportunity to practice their reading in an environment where it is okay to take risks, make mistakes, and learn at their own pace. It is our goal to bring these students up to reading at their appropriate grade level, providing them an opportunity for academic success and hope for a brighter future.
We need the ocean. The ocean needs us.
Ocean Wise builds communities that take meaningful action to protect and restore our ocean. Together – with business leaders, researchers, community members, governments and ocean lovers around the world – we are monitoring and protecting whales, fighting climate change and restoring biodiversity, protecting and restoring fish stocks, innovating for a plastic free ocean, educating and empowering youth.
We will need millions of people, those on the coast as well as those landlocked individuals, to join us for our ocean. Our ability to thrive on this planet depends on it.
We’re giving every senior in long-term care in the province the chance to have a visitor and a voice. Volunteer to brighten their days, listen to their stories, and give back to your community. You will be trained to conduct an in-person, standardized interview with the residents about their quality of life. Questions cover topics including food and meals, privacy, safety, staff responsiveness, visits with family and friends, activities, and more. This is a chance to see inside long-term care, brighten the lives of your local seniors, and know that you’ve been part of improving the future of long-term care in BC. Volunteers should apply online at: https://surveybcseniors.org/volunteer/ We ask for a minimum commitment of 40 hours over the course of 6-8 weeks, inclusive of training.
