The PACE Program provides a range of early intervention as well as treatment services to young children and their families, where there may be ongoing concerns about the child’s emotional well-being and/or challenging behaviours.

This continuum of services ranges from support within neighbourhood childcare settings, to more intensive services for children and families who have experienced significant distressing events in their life. PACE believes in providing a “wrap-around” service to families, working in partnership with parents, caregivers and other professionals.

The PACE Program, operated by the PACE Child & Family Society, has been a resource for children, families and the community since 1984.

The agency is primarily funded by the Ministry for Children and Family Development (MCFD).

Many of the services are accredited by CARF.

TO

The Plus One Mentoring program is for at risk youth in the community, ages 10-17. The youth meets with their mentor for 1 year (or 15 months maximum if need be). For the first 6 months of the program, the match is meeting once a week. During these meetings they will do various activities such as working out, playing sports, swimming, doing arts & crafts, baking etc. After 6 months, the match begins to meet less frequently; possibly once every 2 or 3 weeks depending on the youth's needs. During the time that the match is meeting, the youth will create 3 goals for the program to which the mentor will assist them in reaching these goals. The hope is that the youth leaves the Plus One Mentoring program having made positive changes in their life, and with skills that they can use to assist them on continuing to make positive changes and choices in life.

VWMS
Vancouver, British Columbia

The VWMS is passionate about supporting young, aspiring B.C. musicians in all classical music disciplines to further their training and education. We award annual scholarships and bursaries and provide each of our award winners the opportunity to develop and perform a program before an appreciative audience.

Scholarships and Bursaries

Operating since 1905 to promote classical music, VWMS began offering scholarships in 1923 and bursaries in 1977. These funds helped many artists as they began their careers including Donald Bell, Jean Coulthard, Barbara Custance, Ben Heppner, Jon Kimura Parker, Jamie Parker, the Chooi brothers (Timothy and Nikki), and Avan Yu.

Our Scholarship competitions are open to musicians between 13 and 30 and operate under three categories - voice, piano and orchestral instruments - with each discipline held every third year. Our yearly bursary competitions are open to students enrolled in a recognized post-secondary music program in any music discipline. Three winners in each competition receive cash awards. All competitions have qualified adjudicators.

Concerts

Our winners plan and perform a one-hour concert program, which is a significant development experience. The young performers have shone and engaged us with wonderful concerts.
