For more than 130 years, The Salvation Army has had the privilege of serving vulnerable people in communities across Canada. Last year, we helped over 1.8 million people in the Vancouver area. Hello! Hope you're doing well. I'm Aparna Mody. I work at The Salvation Army (Northshore Ministry) as a Kettle Coordinator. As you may know, the Christmas Kettle Campaign is our largest fundraising drive of the year. With more than 2,000 kettle locations across Canada, the kettle not only raises critical funds but also boosts the Army's visibility and promotes awareness about the causes we support. To continue to make the campaign a success, we rely heavily on kind-hearted and compassionate volunteers who would be willing to give a few hours of their day to be a: - Kettle Host - Driver/Supervisor Should you come across any of your members who'd be interested in participating, please have them reach out to me or they could walk up to our office to have a quick chat too. We would very much appreciate your help in sending volunteers our way towards this mighty cause. We are of course very open to hearing your suggestions and receiving any leads from you as well. The Salvation Army's Christmas Kettle campaign will be up and running from the 14th of November until the 23rd of December from Mon-Sat (10-6 p.m.) at multiple locations around the North Shore. We look forward to hearing from you. Thank you in advance, for your support and cooperation. A popular community festival is returning to Richmond this summer. On August 14th, from 10am-3pm, the Sharing Farm is hosting the 12th Annual Richmond Garlic Fest in the award-winning Terra Nova Rural Park! Highlights for festival-goers include live birds-of-prey flying demonstrations, a celebrated children's area, an expanded farmers market, food trucks with garlic-enhanced dishes, and live entertainment. Admission to the festival is by donation and is suitable for all ages. Limited parking is available. A bike valet service will be available in a securely guarded area near the festival entrance, so consider cycling or taking transit to this event. All proceeds from the festival go to supporting the Sharing Farm in its mission to provide fresh, healthy, sustainably grown produce to community members facing food insecurity.
For women who have been displaced from their homes and estranged from their families, special occasions can be particularly challenging. Often, women report feeling disconnected from society, invisible and alone.  A Shoebox gift is a powerful reminder for a woman that she has not been forgotten and that she remains a valued and respected member of her community. For those giving gifts, The Shoebox Project is a tangible and creative opportunity to give back directly to someone in your very own community. It’s a small, simple gesture of kindness that has an immediate, positive impact on the woman who receives it.

The Association for Workplace Tragedy Family Support, known as Threads of Life, is a Canadian registered charity dedicated to supporting families after a workplace fatality, life-altering injury or occupational disease.
We are a registered charity that operates two programs: a Sunday Free Breakfast for the Homeless which operates year-round out, and an emergency cold weather Warming Centre in the winter months. Both projects operate out of the Odd Fellows' Hall at 1443 W 8th in Vancouver. The Sunday Breakfast operates 9:30-11:30am every Sunday year round. The Warming Centre operates 9:30pm-8:30am on nights when the "feels like" temperature gets down to -4 or colder. We welcome new applications for volunteers for both projects.
For almost 50 years, Tonari Gumi has been building relationships and connections with the Japanese Canadian community throughout Metro Vancouver. From its early days as a group of Japanese Canadian community volunteers, Tonari Gumi has always been strongly focused on being a supportive community organization. It continues to serve the needs of its members and wider community, helping them navigate life in Vancouver with greater independence. In addition, Tonari Gumi also helps them achieve health, wellbeing and happiness.
Our main focus is to restore local community connections through creating art that is dedicated and donated to fellow humans in need of emotional support, especially elderly and children. Our goal is to spark a conversation, inspire creativity, and ignite a meaningful interaction between people of all walks of life, rooted in love, kindness, and compassion. Art is a universal language with a much greater purpose than just being beautiful. When art is created with the intention to be for the good of others, it uplifts the spirit, builds bridges, and becomes an evolutionary tool with huge transformational power.
