VOLUNTEER MENTORS ARE NEEDED!
ConnecTra Society has a new research program, Employment Mentorship Support Project, in partnership with University of British Columbia’s Department of Occupational Therapy and Occupational Science.
ConnecTra is seeking volunteer mentors to support individuals with physical disabilities in pursuit of employment, training, education, volunteering, recreation and increased social involvement.
Typical support includes researching community resources, job searches, and registration of participants at their local Work BC Employment Services Centre.
Volunteer Mentors will need to have previous employment experience, clear a criminal record check for vulnerable adults, and commit to volunteering over an eight-month period.
The attendance of a day-long volunteer orientation is required:
Saturday, March, 26, 2016 10- 4pm at Creekside Community Centre, 1 Athletes Way, Multi-Purpose Room # 4, Vancouver, BC V5Y 0B1. The nearest skytrain stations are Main Street Science World (Expo Millennium Line) and Olympic Village (Canada Line). Lunch will be provided.ConnecTra reimburses Volunteer Mentors for parking and Translink.

Cwenengitel Aboriginal Society is a non-profit organization that provides safe, central, suitable housing for Aboriginal Men. The approach to wellness offered by Cwenengitel is more encompassing than the standard form offered by conventional rehabilitation centers. We focus on healing the whole person and our projects are designed to utilize all aspects of our culture to break the chain of substance abuse, alcoholism, and family violence. We provide counseling services and educational assistance for all our residence with the aim of reintegrating them back into society

Situated in the heart of Vancouver’s historic Chinatown, Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden is a site of cultural heritage, learning, and reflection. Modeled after Ming Dynasty private scholar’s gardens in the city of Suzhou, China, it was the first authentic full-scale Chinese garden built outside of China (upon its completion in April 1986). Stunning architecture, winding paths and corridors, blooming plants and serene jade water ponds transport our visitors back to an ancient time and place.
The Education & Career Fair (ECF) is B.C.'s Largest Career Development Fair. This includes secondary students planning for higher education and exploring career options; young adults looking to transfer their work experience & skills to a different industry; and new immigrants seeking employment and further training to settle in Canada.
Since 1996, ECF has worked hard in the aim of facilitating connections that drive career decisions and inspire growth for individuals and organizations in an evolving economy and job market. Over the years, we have helped students and young adults plan their education and career journey by connecting them with valuable tools and contacts. ECF has attracted over 12,000 attendees across all fairs in British Columbia, and last year, we have expanded our scope to launch a series of fairs is Ontario as well. ECF is today proud to be recognized by Business in Vancouver as "Top Trade Shows in the Lower Mainland".
Evans Lake has been operating as a camp and outdoor education facility <a title="History" href="https://evanslake.com/about/evans-lakes-history/">since 1960</a>. The Centre is <a title="Directions and Maps" href="https://evanslake.com/about/directions/">located</a> 15 kilometres North of Squamish, BC on a picturesque mountain lake. Surrounded by forest, the Centre offers a feeling of wilderness seclusion while featuring all your basic amenities, accommodations and full catering.
Each year Evans Lake offers a full <a title="Summer Camp" href="https://evanslake.com/about-camp/summer-camp/">summer camp</a> program with sessions for campers aged <a title="Youth Camp (Ages 8-12)" href="https://evanslake.com/about-camp/summer-camp/youth-camp/">8-12 years</a>, <a title="Junior Teen Camp (10-14 yrs)" href="https://evanslake.com/about-camp/summer-camp/junior-teen-camp/">10-14years</a>, <a title="Teen Camp (13-16 yrs)" href="https://evanslake.com/about-camp/summer-camp/teen-camp/">13-16 years,</a> as well as <a title="Leadership Camp (14-16 yrs)" href="https://evanslake.com/about-camp/summer-camp/leadership-camp-14-16-yrs/">Leadership Training Camps</a> and wilderness based <a title="Outdoor Adventure Kamp (OAK 13-16 yrs)" href="https://evanslake.com/about-camp/summer-camp/oak-program/">Outdoor Adventure Kamps (OAK)</a>. <a title="Camp Registration" href="https://evanslake.com/about-camp/registration/">Registration</a> begins each year in January. We also offer a 4 day<a title="Winter Camp" href="https://evanslake.com/about-camp/winter-camp/"> Winter Camp</a> program for kids aged 8-16, in December each year.
The Centre is also open year-round and available for <a title="School & Youth Groups" href="https://evanslake.com/venue-rentals/school-youth-groups/">school field trips</a>, <a title="Private Groups" href="https://evanslake.com/venue-rentals/private-groups/">family events</a>, <a title="WEDDINGS" href="https://evanslake.com/venue-rentals/weddings/">weddings</a>, <a title="Private Groups" href="https://evanslake.com/venue-rentals/private-groups/">corporate retreats and private</a> bookings. Rentals over 41 people offer exclusive use of the facility including full catering, use of all activity equipment and accommodations for 140.
