Kids Help Phone is Canada’s only 24/7 e-mental health service offering free, confidential support to young people in English and French.
Kids Help Phone has a pioneering history of creating innovative supports for critical issues young people face. We began in 1989 as a unique telephone counselling service, launched to provide free, accessible support to any young person reaching out from coast to coast to coast.
Our focus was supporting young people experiencing abuse, but almost immediately, young people let us know they needed more from the service than one focus and one way to reach us.
For over 30 years, we’ve evolved our response and offerings. We concentrate on staying relevant to youth, recognizing the complexity of issues they face, and we help to ensure our professional counsellors and volunteer crisis responders are ready to address young people’s continuum of emotional and mental health needs, from crisis situations to the everyday concerns of growing up.
Kitsilano Neighbourhood House (‘Kits House’), member of the Association of Neighbourhood Houses BC, is a registered non-profit, charity organization dedicated to providing an opportunity for everybody in our community to get together and be engaged. We are currently the only Neighbourhood House on the Westside and serves many different communities like Kitsilano, Dunbar, Arbutus Ridge and Point Grey.
Kits House has a rich history on Vancouver’s Westside since 1894 when it was originally opened as Alexandra Orphanage and Non-Sectarian Home Society. This original site was located at 7th and Pine. The orphanage was eventually renamed “Alexandra House” in 1938. In 1972, the House moved to its current location, was renamed Kitsilano Neighbourhood House and still serves the six communities of the Westside.
Lean In Canada is a community of professional women empowering each other to build purposeful and fulfilling careers. Since 2013, we have grown from an audience of 20 people to over 2000 members in various professions. We built our organization for people just like us: professional women who are passionate about driving their careers forward to the next level and beyond, and who want to achieve greater success not only in work, but in life as a whole.
Meeting monthly, we focus on hot career topics with actionable information and inspiring stories, and provide networking opportunities with like-minded people. We recognize that women face unique challenges in their professional lives, and seek to bring women together to learn from and champion each other in a positive, enriching environment. Together, we can be stronger.
Established in 2017, the Lean In Canada Vancouver Network dedicates itself to empowering women to take action. We provide support and opportunities for our members to connect through our evening workshops, seminars and speaker panels, monthly email newsletters and our Lean In Circle Co-Leads assisting companies to set up their own internal Lean In Circles. We also proactively engage with other women’s organizations in Vancouver to amplify our efforts together to empower women. If you are part of a women’s cause and would like to work together please reach out to us!
