About us:

The United Scottish Cultural Society (USCS) is a registered non-profit BC society representing the major Scottish organizations in the Lower Mainland of BC. Formed in 1984, the USCS fosters and preserves the music, dance, language and culture of Scottish immigrants to BC. The USCS’s main program is ScotFestBC: The British Columbia Highland Games, presented annually for more than 100-years.

We are looking for an individual who:

Has senior-level experience in accounting and financial management, including QuickBooks.

Has the capacity to commit to a two-year term, with potential for a renewal term.

Can dedicate time for board meetings every two months and be on-site during the British Columbia Highland Games in June.

Prepared to be hands-on with the financial operations and reporting.

Is familiar with not-for-profit organizational practices and reporting requirements.

Responsibilities:

Financial Operations: Maintain accurate records. Manage timely payments. Complete the month-end tasks, including bank reconciliations. Manage all cash transactions and coordinate with the Technical Director for online purchases during the BC Highland Games.

Reporting: Prepare financial reports. Provide updates to the Board on the financial state of the organization. Prepare financial reports for grant applications.

Budgets: Collaborate with the Executive Director on the annual budget and any government grants.

Government: Ensure accurate and timely remittance of government taxes.

Controls: Recommend changes to organization policy, procedures and/or best practices as it relates to financial matters.

This is a volunteer position with a well established organization and a strong board of directors.
