Opportunity Description:

Located on Granville Island in Vancouver, VATI, is looking for volunteer board members. Founded in 1982 as a non-profit society & charitable organization we are looking for professionals, in field of business, accounting, or law, to add to the existing skills already on our Board. The Board’s essential business is that of governance: making policy, articulating the mission of the organization, sustaining its vision and evaluating its performance. The Board’s overall responsibilities are as follows: Ensuring that the organization operates within all relevant federal, provincial and municipal legislation. Operating within the Constitution and By-laws set forth by the Society. Setting high level policies for the organization and monitoring their implementation through the Chief Executive Officer. Defining desired ends or results and monitoring their achievement. Strategic planning for the longer term. Building and sustaining key external relations. Approving annual budgets, reviewing financial results and ensuring an annual financial audit occurs. Acting as a final resolution of the complaint process. Reviewing all agency plans and reports as appropriate. Expectations also include attending six Board meetings a year, including the Annual General Meeting.
