VOLUNTEER FOR the Marketing AND COMMUNICATIONS Department at the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese garden! About the organization The Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden is a non-profit organization and cultural hub, passionate about connecting cultures and communities through tours, festivals, live music, art exhibits, education and wellness programs. Volunteering with Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden is a wonderful experience. You will have the opportunity to work with a dedicated team of staff and volunteers and be a part of arts, culture and community building in a heritage site voted the World’s Top City Garden by the National Geographic in 2011. THE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY CHINESE LANGUAGE MARKETING VOLUNTEER We are currently recruiting volunteers fluent in Mandarin and write/read in both Traditional and Simplified Chinese for the Marketing and Communications Department.   If you are passionate about texting, tweeting, blogging and social media chatting and have a lot to say on Weibo and other social media channels, have investigative skills and want to track down influencers and bloggers who are writing about tourism, culture, travel, gardens, destinations and fun things in general, and you speak and write Mandarin – WE WANT YOU! Your Skills and Experience Translate and post on Garden’s Weibo account Translate press releases and signage for the Garden events (English to Chinese) Search and read popular Chinese travel blogs, picking up common trends, tone, etc. Friendly, proactive and enthusiastic Fluency in both written and oral English Fluency in written Chinese and oral Mandarin Training and time commitment This is a fantastic opportunity to work with the seasoned marketing and communications team, connect with Chinese social media influencers and impact the Garden’s presence on those channels. You must be available 1 hour a week (ideally on Thursday but any other work day is fine too) for a 6-month period (ideally). Content for the social media posts will be provided. The first month you would be working in the Garden’s office and then remotely.
