Opportunity Description:
Do you love volunteering in your local community? Are you passionate about food waste prevention and its impact on our climate?
Second Harvest is Canada’s largest food rescue charity, and we are looking for individuals to join our growing community of volunteers across the country to share their time, talent and experience to make a difference.
Community Event Volunteers help increase Second Harvest’s presence and impact at local prominent events in a variety of ways.
Activities may include:
- Event support with set-up/tear down
- Collecting food donations for local non-profit partners
- Running fun and informative activities to spread awareness about food waste
- Community outreach to support Second Harvest brand awareness
Time Commitment:
- Approximately 2-4 hours per month as needed, ad hoc when events occur
- Flexible scheduling, preference given to volunteers who can commit on an ongoing basis
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Passionate about the environment, food rescue and reducing hunger
- Approachable and comfortable engaging in conversations
- Reliable & committed
- Comfortable traveling to/from local events
- Minimum 19 years of age
- Bilingual is an asset
Training:
Virtual Second Harvest volunteer orientation session and additional training will be provided.
