Volunteer Opportunities Howe Sound Rehabilitation Services Society Our History Howe Sound Rehabilitation Services Society first opened its doors in 1988 in North Vancouver with the establishment of Windridge House, a residential home that had accommodations for three people with developmental disabilities. Today, Howe Sound provides a range of residential and day program services to over 150 adults, youth, and children with acquired brain injuries, developmental, physical, and health care needs. Assisted Living – Liberty Place & Freedom Place Our Assisted Living Program provides housing and support to adults between the ages of 19 and 64 who have a physical disability and can direct their own care. Each building offers hospitality and personal assistance to individuals with physical disabilities. The tenants can also access a recreation program at each building. Headway Centres – Vancouver & New West Our Headway Centres are community based programs for people with acquired brain injuries. Members run their centre through participation in work departments and may also access the centre’s many drop-in leisure programs. Headway departments assist members in gaining valuable skills and experience to help them further their personal and vocational goals. Recreational Programs Air Hockey, Billiards Board Games & Cards Music & Instruments Computers & Tech All Types of Sports Crafts & Beading Library & Reading Movie Nights Community Outings Hiking, Walking, Parks Swimming & Fitness And MANY MORE!
