Opportunity Description:

For more than 130 years, The Salvation Army has had the privilege of serving vulnerable people in communities across Canada. Last year, we helped over 1.8 million people in the Vancouver area. The Salvation Army not only provides the necessities of life such as food, clothing and shelter, but our programs address needs such as language barriers, loneliness, unemployment and family challenges. Christmas season can be challenging for families living in Vancouver BC. With the help of the community we are able to offer the Christmas Assistance Program to families in need. They will receive support by being provided an ample Christmas dinner for their families as well as toys for their children. We need volunteers to help us with the registration phase and toy distribution, that are willing to make a three week commitment working full- or part-time at our office on Fraser Street. Role Objectives You will be working together with The Salvation Army staff to make sure that every client that applies for the Christmas Assistance Program is properly registered and receives the toys that will be assigned to them. Your duties will include: Monitoring and organizing the registration procedure and making sure it stays in flow by calling numbers and assigning clients to caseworkers Assisting clients with filling out the mandatory forms Organizing the large amounts of toy packages we will be processing Giving out toy packages to clients Proper orientation will be provided.
