Opportunity Description:

SENIORS ACTING UP IS SEEKING A VOLUNTEER DIRECTOR/ADMINISTRATOR TO WORK WITH A GROUP OF EXPERIENCED SENIORS WHO PERFORM VARIETY SHOWS AT VARIOUS VENUES THROUGHOUT THE LOWER MAINLAND.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Should have a performance background preferably in music and theatre
• Ideally should be willing/able to perform in Seniors Acting Up programme
• Annually create a variety programme of songs and skits in consultation with group members
• Rehearse and offer direction to members in vocal numbers and skits.
• Research performance material suitable for the group’s skills and abilities
• Should be flexible in giving direction
• Co-ordinate programme for performance venues
• Maintain contact with existing venues in order to set up performance dates for each new season.
• Search out new venues for performance throughout the lower mainland
• Appreciate the requirements involved with venue contact: ie: ongoing phone calls, emails, visits to venues to ensure performance space, change space and sound set up
• Maintain record of SAU’s volunteer hours for Silver Harbour
• Remind members when Silver Harbour’s programme fees are due as well as Annual Membership fee
• Recruitment of new members
• Encourage all members to appreciate the importance of regular, timely attendance at rehearsals and performances
• Advise members of performance expectations at the venues they visit
• Encourage all members to take part in the transportation of sound equipment to and from venues as well as sound set up and take down
• Realize the importance of socialization to all members
