UBC Farm (UBC Farm Field Volunteer – Urban Farmers)

Come lend a hand harvesting and maintaining the 200+ varieties of vegetables we grow! In this diverse position, you’ll be introduced to all aspects of sustainable farming, from seeding and weeding to planting and harvesting. Urban Farmers play an important role in carrying out the day-to-day activities needed to run the UBC Farm’s field operations. If you want to get your hands dirty in our fields, this is the program for you! The Centre for Sustainable Food Systems (CSFS), located at UBC Farm, is a unique research centre that aims to understand and fundamentally transform local and global food systems towards a more sustainable, food-secure future. The centre is a living laboratory, committed to finding solutions to both the local and global challenges facing food systems sustainability and translating solutions to improve personal, community, and environmental health. Much of the great work that happens at UBC Farm is made possible by the continued support of the farm’s dedicated volunteers. Most volunteer opportunities are available during the main growing season (May-October). New volunteers are required to attend a general farm orientation before signing up for volunteer shifts, both of which are available on our online volunteer portal here (https://secure.landfood.ubc.ca/farmvol/new/application/mi-login.php).
