Opportunity Description:

Make a Friend Vancouver South Better at Home is looking for volunteers to provide rides for seniors with mobility concerns living in the South Vancouver area. This program strives to support seniors living in their own homes independently by providing friendly and courteous transportation to appointments that enhances quality of life. Training will be provided through the South Vancouver Neighbourhood House and mileage will be reimbursed. Better at Home is funded by the government of B.C. and managed by the United Way of the Lower mainland. Qualifications & Requirements -21yrs or older with minimum five years driving experience -valid driver’s license, registration and auto insurance -driver’s abstract -own a reliable vehicle -respect and comply with South Vancouver Neighbourhood House’s policies, procedures, code of ethics and conduct -attend program orientation and training -reliable and punctual -treat seniors with dignity and respect -sensitive to cultural diversity -must undergo a criminal record check -3 month minimum commitment If you fit the above, and would like to make a difference in the lives of seniors in your community, contact Jeannie.
