Parent Support Service of BC is a non-profit organization, with a mission to protect the safety and well-being of children and promote the health of all families by partnering with those in a parenting role and their communities to build support, advocacy, education, research, and resources.
We are holding a facilitator training seminar on February 23-25, 2018. Applicants must attend the full 20h Training. See below for dates and times.
Friday 23rd: 6pm to 9:30pm
Saturday 24th: 9am to 5:15pm
Sunday 25th: 9am to 5:15pm
Every fiscal year, we facilitate 5 training seminars (in different regions in BC) for volunteers who are willing to commit for 2-3 hours a week for a minimum of 1 year. We require that all volunteers partake in our 20h training, in order to qualify as volunteer facilitators with PSS. This is to ensure that our volunteers are knowledgeable about our services; learn how to utilize the self-help, peer support model; and to ensure that our services and practice is consistent and reliable.
Qualifications:
- Good Listening and Interpersonal Skills
- An Interest in Improving Caregiver and Child Relationships
- Basic Understanding of Child Development and Parenting Issues
- Willing to do Community Outreach
- Speak English, Filipino, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Arabic, and/or other languages
