Opportunity Description:

Parent Support Service of BC is a non-profit organization, with a mission to protect the safety and well-being of children and promote the health of all families by partnering with those in a parenting role and their communities to build support, advocacy, education, research, and resources.

We are holding an Initial facilitator training on July 27-29, 2018.

Friday 27th: 6pm to 9:30pm

Saturday 28th: 9am to 5:15pm

Sunday 29th: 9am to 5:15pm

Applicants must attend the full 20h Training.

We require that all volunteers partake in our 20h training in order to qualify as volunteer facilitators with PSS and commit to a minimum 1 year, 2-5h a week. This is to ensure that our volunteers are knowledgeable about our services; learn how to utilize the self-help, peer support model; to ensure that our services and practice is consistent and reliable, and to build healthy and safe spaces for our Circle members.

Qualifications:

• Good Listening and Interpersonal Skills
• An Interest in Improving Caregiver and Child Relationships
• Basic Understanding of Child Development and Parenting Issues
• Willing to do Community Outreach
• Speak English, Filipino, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Arabic, and/or other languages
