The symptoms of Parkinson’s can push people into the shadows. But at Parkinson Canada, we hope to inspire people with Parkinson’s to embrace the wobbles, the wiggles, and the wonky moments. We help people affected by Parkinson’s stand in the light – connected, supported and inspired. We transform every involuntary movement into a symbol of style. Every shuffle into a dance. Every tremor into a beat. We help people living with Parkinson’s to find their joy, their ‘swagger,’ again – or maybe for the first time.

Parkgate Community Services Society (PCSS) is a registered not-for-profit charitable society that has been in operation since 1983. PCSS provides community based programs and services out of Parkgate Community Centre, the Seymour Youth Centre, and other satellite locations. PCSS is responsible for delivering community programs and services for children, youth, families and seniors through the Community Centre.

Parkbus connects city dwellers with nature through affordable transportation options. Founded in 2010, we operate bus services to National and Provincial Parks from major cities across Canada. We also operate community nature and outdoor programs such as ActiveDays and NatureLink. In British Columbia, Parkbus programs are run by BEST, a non-profit charitable organization with a long history promoting sustainable transportation. In the rest of Canada, our programs are run by Transportation Options, an Ontario-based non-profit organization dedicated to fostering sustainable tourism and transportation.

Parent Support Services of BC is a non-profit organization, with a mission to protect the safety and well-being of children and promote the health of all families by partnering with those in a parenting role and their communities to build support, advocacy, education, research, and resources. PSS offers the following programs and services: - Parenting Support Circles Program: self-help and peer support Circles to parents, grandparents, and/or other caregivers, in different communities throughout BC. Our Circles provide a safe space for parents, grandparents, and/or other caregivers, to not only get together to discuss their strengths, challenges or concerns they may have faced throughout the week or throughout their time in a parenting role, but to also build a supportive network, receive emotional support, and learn new skills. Moreover, in some of our communities, we have Circles that are: language specific – Spanish, Korean, Cantonese, Mandarin, and Filipino; for kinship care providers and grandparents who are raising their grandchildren or another relatives 24/7; for parents with children on the autism spectrum; for fathers and mothers in the prison system; and for parents of Trans or gender creative children. Each Circle is facilitated by two trained volunteers, who practice within a self-help and peer support model. Our model of practice provides Circle members with a supportive network; promotes self-advocacy; empowers and boosts self-esteem; and helps create a healthier living environment for all families. All our Circles are free, confidential and anonymous. - Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Support Line: operated by two part-time advocates, trained in advocacy, social work, family law, and government services related to kinship caregiving. Individuals can call in and seek information on complex services such as the Ministry of Children and Family Development, or they can call in if they have questions surrounding benefits, resources, and any other questions surrounding kinship caregiving. Our GRG support line operates on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 am to 2 pm – 1-855-474-9777 – GRGline@parentsupportbc.ca - Community Workshops: For parents, grandparents and/or caregivers. These workshops vary in topics and location.

Papergirl YVR is an inclusive, non-commercial art project that brings people together in the celebration of art and community in an unconventional way: through the spirit of altruism. In this annual project (entering its 6th year!), artists of all ages and abilities are invited to donate their work to a non-juried exhibition. Afterward, the artwork is rolled into bundles and distributed by a team of cyclists (in the style of the American paperboy) to anyone they meet along specific bike routes in the Lower Mainland.

We are both a geographical region covering most of BC and Yukon, and a council of membership within The United Church of Canada. Our mission and vision is to support the health of United Church communities of faith and ministries in our region, to nurture effective leadership, and to grow faithful public witness as United Church people. There are four components to the Pathways to Education program, which are tutoring, mentoring, immediate financial supports, and one-on-one support. The PCHC-MoM Society is a registered non-profit society reflecting a broad spectrum of communities—in particular (but not limited to) a diversity of Canadian communities of Asian heritage—who are committed to the vision of a new kind of museum that can appeal both to a diverse local and global audience. Utilizing institutional partnerships with universities (including, but not limited to, for instance, the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, the University of Calgary, and Athabasca University), our vision is for community-based stakeholders to collaborate with institutions of higher education so that the latest innovations in research, teaching, and technology can shape public education, heritage conservation, and multimedia storytelling at a state-of-the-art museum.
