Our mission is to connect every youth in Metro Vancouver with the natural environment and to the Metro Vancouver Regional Parks system and surrounding communities, in a hands-on way, to provide life changing experiences.
CTS delivers on our mission by providing accessible weekend overnight camps for free to youth ages 12-18. We also promote youth leadership with our Peer Leader program, allowing youth ages 15-18 to take a central role in the operation and planning of our summer weekend overnight camps, providing them with training session from November-June. The programs goal is to:
Create region-wide opportunities for youth to challenge themselves in leadership, social responsibility and personal development;
Provide an opportunity for youth to connect with their communities through citizen action, environmental stewardship, public service and community education;
Help support and integrate youth into park and community associated activities and purposes.
Our Social Fabric (OSF) is Vancouver’s only non-profit textile recycling organization. We have been in operation since 2009 with a mission to eradicate textile waste from landfills. We receive donations of textiles and sewing-related supplies from individuals, manufacturers, designers, and the film industry. Our powerful team of volunteers then processes the donations for sale at amazing prices through our retail shop and online store.
The Regional Animal Protection Society – RAPS – is an independent, non-profit organization serving animals and their people. We are, very proudly, a no-kill animal care agency. We independently operate one of North America’s largest cat sanctuaries, the RAPS Cat Sanctuary - a loving forever home to 400 cats. In addition, our RAPS Adoption Centre receives cats and kittens as owner-surrenders, from other rescue agencies & shelters and feral cats who have been trapped. These cats and kittens are available for adoption. The not-for-profit RAPS Animal Hospital opened in February 2018. The RAPS Animal Hospital is a full-service, community-supported veterinary hospital, owned and operated by the Regional Animal Protection Society. In addition, RAPS operates two RAPS Thrift Stores in Richmond as well as one in New Westminster. All revenue from the thrift stores is reinvested to help save and improve the lives of animals and their people in our community.
We are proud to have served the animals and people of this city and region for over two decades. We could not do what we do if not for the generous contribution of time, skill and caring of our extraordinary volunteers.
At VOKRA, we rescue, heal, then place cats - first in our network of foster homes, then in carefully matched, loving, forever homes. We're a passionate, volunteer-driven charity with extensive cat care experience.
Beach Clean Up Organization is a non-profit organization that dedicates to environmental protection. We provide volunteer opportunities for local high school students who are willing to join us and help to clean up White Rock Beach. We will voluntarily clean up all the waste on White Rock Beach.
The Jericho Stewardship Group is a registered non-profit organization comprising residents, students, naturalists and other non-profit groups, that works with the Vancouver Park Board to restore and encourage the natural habitat of Jericho Beach Park.
Our main activities include:
removal of existing non-native shrub and tree species
planting of new native trees and shrubs
maintenance of newly planted areas
We also give walks and talks in the park, do an annual release of mason bees in the spring and monitor and record some of the plant and animal species.
mugshare is a project with a goal to reduce single use waste by promoting the uses of reusable wears. The project was originally started by a group of UBC students and now managed by a team of UBC alumni on a voluntarily basis.
mugshare system is an easy-to-use alternative to disposable coffee cups that operates on a deposit-return system, allowing users to enjoy all the convenience of a coffee to-go, but without the waste.
The mission of the Hancock Wildlife Foundation is to promote the conservation and appreciation of wildlife and their habitats through science, education, and stewardship.
We aim to accomplish these goals through our programs, including:
- Live streaming cameras to engage the public on wildlife behavior and natural history and incite a sense of inspiration and appreciation
- Scientific research projects to address gaps in our knowledge and understanding of local wildlife species
- Providing a public forum for discourse and exchange of ideas on wildlife and wildlife related issues
- The production and publication of wildlife books and educational materials on ecological and natural history topics
- Providing expertise on human-wildlife conflict and creating viable mitigation options to allow for sustainable co-existence
The Nature Trust of British Columbia is dedicated to conserving BC’s biological diversity through securement and management of ecologically significant lands.
TNTBC took on the daunting task of protecting the natural riches of the province by building a treasury of wild natural areas to conserve iconic and important species at risk.
TNTBC is now a leading non-profit land conservation organization. Since 1971 we have acquired more than 500 conservation properties in British Columbia.
VOKRA’s mission is to end cat overpopulation and homelessness.
We rescue, heal, then place cats - first in our network of foster homes, then in carefully matched, loving, forever homes. We are a passionate, volunteer-driven charity with extensive cat care experience. We believe that no kill is the only responsible approach to rescue, that Trap-Neuter-Return works and that cats are AWESOME!
The Vancouver Botanical Gardens Association (VBGA), a CRA registered charity, and the City of Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation jointly operate VanDusen Botanical Garden and Bloedel Conservatory. Both organisations share responsibility for the day to day running of the Gardens in a close and long-standing relationship, since the 1970’s.

The VBGA’s mission is to engage people of all ages and walks of life in the importance of biodiversity to our lives, and to foster a lifelong love of plants and gardens by virtue of their participation in our programs and services.

Ocean Wise builds communities that take meaningful action to protect and restore our ocean. Together – with business leaders, researchers, community members, governments and ocean lovers around the world – we are monitoring and protecting whales, fighting climate change and restoring biodiversity, protecting and restoring fish stocks, innovating for a plastic free ocean, educating and empowering youth.
We will need millions of people, those on the coast as well as those landlocked individuals, to join us for our ocean. Our ability to thrive on this planet depends on it.
