In addition to providing education, we also want to promote and encourage youth leadership.
The Great Climate Race is a brand new running series that raise awareness about climate solutions and crowdfunds for local solar projects. The inaugural race will take place on the Stanley Park seawall on October 30th, and will involve both a 10K and 2.5K course. It's a fun, family-friendly walk ​and run that's zero waste and solar-powered, with entertainment, costumes, healthy snacks, and more!
The Salvation Army Vancouver Community & Family Services has been serving individuals and families in Vancouver and Burnaby for more than 40 years. Our mandate is to provide services to members of the community, children and families facing serious life challenges such as poverty, isolation, abuse, neglect, homelessness, addiction, hunger and mental illness. We strive to do this with a continuum of care model focusing on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs of our clients. Through our programs and services we aim to support the whole person and entire communities.
The Beaumont Studios Artist Society (BSAS) is designed to inspire and engage artists, designers, and creative small business owners with space, events and opportunities to work together, play together, share, learn, create and produce art and artistic projects and engage with the community around it. Dusty Flowerpot Cabaret is an artist collective of professional and emerging artists based in East Vancouver. We create, perform and engage our community in home spun tales within elaborate worlds of found-object, bygone aesthetic, hosting journeys of re-discovery of old treasures and stories well known to our hearts. Our crew are many — storytellers, dancers, producers, multi-media artists, puppeteers, musicians, painters and makers of all kinds — and our extended community is enormous. Craftworks purpose is to support adults living with physical disabilities and/or mental illness, by developing a vibrant community through skills development and socialization; serving as a catalyst to decrease isolation, to empower and to engage individuals; and facilitating access to earnings opportunities. Craftworks supports participants who are unable to maintain traditional employment by providing flexible training opportunities and indefinite employment in a stigma-free environment - paying fair wages for pieces completed. Craftworks offers a hybrid program that marries developmental opportunities with employment supports that engenders feelings of belonging and satisfaction of contributing to household income.
Parkgate Community Services Society (PCSS) is a registered not-for-profit charitable society that has been in operation since 1983. PCSS provides community based programs and services out of Parkgate Community Centre, the Seymour Youth Centre, and other satellite locations. PCSS is responsible for delivering community programs and services for children, youth, families and seniors through the Community Centre.
VoteNowBC is a nonprofit and nonpartisan organization that provides an online information and discussion platform for BC voters. Our goal is to easily provide BC voters with the information and tools they need to make an informed vote during municipal and provincial elections. We understand the challenges of staying politically informed because we know that  British Columbians have many commitments such as work, family and other day-to-day commitments. VoteNowBC believes that everyone has a right to be politically informed and we aim to eliminate these barriers in order to ensure that everyone can vote for a candidate that best represents their interests.
Helping Spirit Lodge Society provides excellent service to Women and Children fleeing violence. Women access our Transition House, Second Stage Programming and Subsidized housing units, Journey Home - to assist the homeless population seek housing, Employment Resources as well as our Wellness Centre. To Support women moving through trauma we provide Therapeutic Interventions including Counselling, Acupuncture and Massage therapy.
