The LMGRS is a non-profit registered charitable organization that has been organizing grief support groups in the greater Vancouver area since it was incorporated in 1990.These programs are offered in the communities of Kerrisdale/West Side and Downtown Vancouver.
Our programs are designed for those who have suffered the death of a significant person by helping them understand, cope and live with their loss. We help the grieving person move from pain to healing in a non-judgemental, compassionate and confidential environment.
The group facilitators come to this work from a variety of backgrounds, including healthcare, counselling, pastoral work, education, and social service. All have received their bereavement education from the LMGRS and all have experienced first-hand the heartbreak of their own personal losses.
In our 30 years of service, we have delivered more than 100 grief support programs and have provided information and resources to over 1000 people that have attended these programs. The LMGRS board and grief facilitators have worked tirelessly to provide and maintain a high level of knowledge, time, energy and compassion in order to keep this society and its mission alive in the community!

WHAT WE PROVIDE
Grief Support Groups
Our support groups are designed for those who are struggling with the pain of losing a significant person. Trained and experienced facilitators walk with participants on a journey through healing by offering coping tools, support and the chance to share feelings and stories. Being with others who ‘get’ what you are going through can be extremely comforting and powerful.

Greater Van Gogos is a network of more than 20 local groups registered with the Stephen Lewis Foundation’s Grandmothers Campaign. Our members are diverse, engaged and united by our commitment to support the work of African grandmothers raising a generation of children orphaned by AIDS. We raise funds, increase awareness about the challenges and successes of grandmothers in Africa and build solidarity between African and Canadian grandmothers.
The Campaign is an exceptional model of fundraising based on the principles of social justice. African grandmothers identify their needs and the Campaign responds. Our support helps the community based organizations provide school fees and uniforms for children, adequate housing, skills training, home care visits, grief and trauma counselling and micro credit grants for income generation.
At SACIF, we envision a world where children have the opportunity to learn and to reach their potential. We are an independent, secular foundation founded and operating in Canada since 2019. Our main focus is to help them get a proper education as a means to reach their maximum potential. When it comes to helping out, we do not consider any discrimination such as race, gender, or the country they live in. We help them without any boundaries. However, getting a proper education is not possible without peace of mind about one’s other vital needs. The need for food, clothing and housing is also as equally (if not more) important as education. We are surely aware of those needs and extend our support to address those needs as well. This will definitely play a significant role in children’s education and leads to more sustainable growth for them.
