Opportunity Description:

Marpole Neighbourhood House (MNH), the newest neighbourhood house under the umbrella of the Association of Neighbourhood Houses of BC (ANHBC), seeks new members for our Community Advisory Board for a minimum two-year term.

We are looking for committed, collaborative, and adaptable people who are passionate about community building and place-making, share our values, have a connection to the community of Marpole, and/or who can bring important perspectives, skills, and experiences.

 

At this time, we are especially interested in individuals who have the following knowledge or skills:

Communications and engagement
Health (especially mental health)
Technology/IT
Fund Development

We want our Board reflect the diversity of our community. As such, we encourage applications from people who are a member of, or have experience working or volunteering with, the following groups:

Newcomers, immigrants, and refugees
Youth (minimum age of 16 for applicants)
Seniors or elders (55+)
Parents or guardians of youth or young adults
Individuals with disabilities
Indigenous peoples
Members of the 2SLGBTIA+ community

 

As a new member of our Community Advisory Board, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the community of Marpole. Other benefits include:

Gaining experience in community leadership and working on a Board
Meeting and connecting with people from your community
Learning about neighbourhood houses and their role in healthy communities
Chance to learn from and work with a diverse group of people;

Our Community Advisory Board meets once a month with breaks in the summer and in December.

About MNH: Marpole Neighbourhood House (MNH) opened its doors on May 22nd, 2019, and has been proudly serving the community of Marpole for the past 5 years.
