Are you a storyteller? Want to welcome the Year of the Rabbit in a creative and artistic way?

Volunteer as an Activity Leader for our LunarFest crafts workshop!

Share the story of the Rabbit with elementary students and hone your storytelling skills in our interactive workshops. Be part of LunarFest’s tradition of bringing communities together through arts and crafts.

Event:

Celebrate the Lunar New Year like no other with LunarFest! An annual winter event held in Vancouver, we have a variety of events around the city to build connections between our beautifully diverse community. Our School Outreach Program provides virtual and in-person craft workshops for elementary students in the Vancouver and Richmond School Districts. This year’s craft is centered on the Year of the Rabbit, with the animal representing curiosity and encouraging everyone to join us in this Year to Imagine.

Job Description:

Activity Leader Volunteers will introduce, lead, and assist students in one-hour workshop activities during the month of January. A mix of virtual and in-person workshops will be available for students, therefore volunteer positions may be remote or in-person; training will be provided.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Lead 2 – 6 workshop sessions per week starting Jan 03th – Jan 20th
Learn about LunarFest programs and the activity lesson plans in advance
Attend the mandatory orientation and training

Required Qualifications:

Ability to lead craft activity with large groups while following scheduled lesson plan
Enjoy working with and telling stories to children
Workshops will be during school hours; volunteer must be available minimum 2 days per week at these times
Experience working with school-aged children in arts-related activities is a plus
Passion for arts and crafts
Enthusiastic personality
Willingness to learn
Leadership skills, patience, and initiative
