Apathy is Boring (Create your own community project – Become a RISE ambassador)

Hi everyone, my name is Rebecca and I’m a program coordinator for a youth volunteer program here in Vancouver called RISE which is under the organization Apathy is Boring. We’re currently looking for participants to join the RISE program in July 2023. RISE is the perfect opportunity to gain experience, develop new skills and manage a community project from the ground up.

Apathy is Boring is a national non-partisan, youth-led organization that supports youth to become change-makers in their everyday lives and communities.

If you want to create change in your community, connect with other young people and other community organizations in Metro Vancouver, you might be a great fit for this program!

RISE is designed for young people with little to no previous experience in volunteering. We mean it! You don’t need to have ANY previous experience.

In 22 weeks, you’ll meet and work with other young people in your community and will:

Develop new skills (in project management, collective decision-making, team building, budgeting, research, and more!)
Learn about community engagement, and develop a project focussing on a sub-theme that matters to you.
Have access to mentors and various workshops during the program.

The theme for Cohort 12 is RESILIENT COMMUNITIES. From accessibility to arts, infrastructure, and green spaces to civic engagement, resilient communities are about developing spaces, activities, and initiatives that can lead local communities to thrive.

If you’re between the ages of 18 and 30 years old and live in Metro Vancouver, RISE is your chance to learn about community work, build confidence, and make new connections in a supportive environment.
