Are you interested in making a meaningful difference for a youth in Surrey? You will spend two or more hours once per week doing free or low-cost activities you both enjoy and are paired for a minimum of one year.As a Big Brothers Community Mentor, you areMale, trans, or gender-diverse who is 18+.Reliable, consistent, dedicated, and respectful of others.Able to meet weekly for two or more hours with a Mentee on weekends or after school for one year.Big Brothers Community Mentees areBoys, trans, and gender-diverse children and youth ages 7 to 14.Children or youth who would benefit from having a positive role model in their life.Urgent need for volunteers in Surrey! Some of our Littles have been waiting more than two years to be matched with their Big Brother.TrainingYou will be supported throughout your match by one of our experienced case workers, also known as a Mentoring Coordinator.You can expect to meet your mentee within 2-3 months from when you applied.No prior experience working with children is necessary. Are you into sports and interested in helping youth develop healthy habits? Fill out an application form here to become a Game On! Mentor: https://www.bigbrothersvancouver.com/volunteer-application-what-should-i-expect/As a volunteer in our Group Mentoring program, Game On!, you will provide youth with the knowledge to make informed decisions about a range of healthy lifestyle practices while focusing on fun activity-based play. Groups meet once weekly for 90-minute sessions during weekday afternoons at a school or community centre for 8 to 10 weeks. Groups engage in life skills, communication, and social-emotional discussions that encourage healthy lifelong habits.As a Game On! Group Mentor, you areMale, trans, and gender-diverse individuals who are 18+.Reliable, consistent, dedicated, and respectful of others.Able to meet once weekly for 90-minute sessions from Monday to Friday between 2:30pm and 4:30pm.As a Game On! volunteer, you are asked to enroll in a minimum of two 8-week terms as it's the best way to experience this fun program.You will be matched withBoys, trans, and gender-diverse children and youth in grades 4 to 7.Youth who could benefit from building self-confidence and learning healthy lifestyle choices.TrainingYou will be supported throughout your match by one of our experienced case workers, also known as a Mentoring Coordinator.No prior experience working with children is necessary. Want to support a child during the school day and feel like a kid again? Fill out an application form here to become an In-School Mentor: https://www.bigbrothersvancouver.com/volunteer-application-what-should-i-expect/Our In-School Mentoring Program pairs you with an elementary school student who you share common interests with. You will spend one hour once per week together doing non-academic activities such as playing sports, games, creating art or simply just hanging out at the playground and are paired for the duration, or remainder, of the academic school year.As an In-School Mentor, you areAdults aged 18+, inclusive of male, female, trans, and gender-diverse individuals.Reliable, consistent, dedicated, and respectful of others.Available one hour per week during school hours, weekdays between 10:00am and 3:00pm.In-School Mentees areStudents in grades 1 to 7, who are nominated by teachers, staff or themselves.Children who could benefit from having an additional caring adult role model in their life.TrainingYou will be supported throughout your match by one of our experienced case workers, also known as a Mentoring Coordinator.No prior experience working with children is necessary. Math Mentor (Virtual or In-Person)

Are you someone who enjoys math and wants to help youth build confidence with numbers? Fill out an application form here to become a Math Mentor: https://www.bigbrothersvancouver.com/volunteer-application-what-should-i-expect/Our Mentoring with Math Program strengthens the impact of tutoring by adding in the element of mentorship. You’ll meet in the afternoon, once per week for 90-minute sessions over a 10-week period, and work on numeracy, activities, and games.As a Math Mentor, you areAdults aged 18+, inclusive of male, female, trans, and gender-diverse individuals.Reliable, consistent, dedicated, and respectful of others.Able to meet once weekly during weekday afternoons between 4:00pm and 5:30pm for either 90-minute in-person sessions or 60-minute virtual sessions.As a Mentoring with Math volunteer, you are asked to enroll in a minimum of two 10-week terms as it's the best way to experience this fun program.Math Mentees areChildren in grades 3-7 who demonstrate a need for assistance in math at their grade level.From families who are not otherwise able to access academic support outside of school.TrainingYou will be supported throughout your match by one of our experienced case workers, also known as a Mentoring Coordinator.Math Mentors are provided with a JUMP Math workbook.No prior experience working with children is necessary.
